Ever watch "Myth Busters"?? They did a study on the dirtiest place in the common household. Kitchen, of course, was number one. And, believe it or not, the toilet seat showed to have little to no bacteria at all. If you're worried about it that much, I suggest you "hover" or use the supplied toilet seat cover.

I remember when I was younger. I sat down on a public toilet seat since I didnt' know any better to use the rest room. I had to take a dump lol sorry. BUT later on. I started to produce some weird big rash on my right butt cheek. It took a while for it to go away. I didn't go to the doctor to have a look at it so my parents told me to rub garlic with a rough sponge on it and some days later. It went away. Now I cover the seat with toilet paper or the seat tissue covers if they have any around. So I think you can catch things off of those things.

Oprah just had a Dr. on her show last week, and he specifically stated, "you cannot catch anything from a toilet seat". Most germs need a moist/dark/ area to survive and a toilet seat is the last place they would survive. You are more likely to catch a bacterial infection from a shared hot tub/whirlpool at the spa, or a friends house than a toilet seat.

I wouldn't sit on a public toilet just to be safe. If you have to then use a seat cover.

Yep...bacterial infection, possibly lice. Just make sure to use a toliet seat cover or if out cover the seat all the way around the seat with toliet paper. Probably easier to go buy the to-go Charmin toliet seat covers (like 15 in a pack and compact like make-up) at your local drug store or grocery store.

YES Hepititis C if you have a cut or open wound and there is some blood residue on the seat .Live virus will last for over 10 days and will still be alive after being washed in bleach for about 7 hours.

Seriously even if you can't why would you want to sit on it, I disinfect my toilet seat in my own house every time before I sit down I most certainly won't take my chances in a public restroom people get piss on those seats and you're going to sit down, I'm about to vomit thinking about it.

Most of the stuff you might be worrying about cannot live outside the body for long, so as long as the seat isn't warm still from the previous user, you should be safe. If it really worries you, you can carry those paper seat protectors.
