Because I have the right of free speech. I choose to use restraint most of the time, but if I want to say your religion is silly and based off a book of myth that also happens to have a lot of good advice on how to live and get along with folks, then that's my right.

I think those that follow or at least strive to follow their chosen religion do not bash other religions. That being said, you will find that some days it's as though a war is going on here at R&S, between those with faith and those without. It quickly degenerates to name calling, yelling, and general bashing of anything and everything that doesn't agree with the chosen beliefs of those asking/answering. It's sad really.
But, back to your question, I think people do have a right to speak about their experiences with a chosen religion (whether good or bad). It's when people bash a religion, without ever having been an adherent of that faith, or without doing some indepth study of the faith that I think is wrong.

Most religions expect to have the right to worship who and what they will, in the way they choose and be left in peace to do so. Most people in the Western world fully support that.

Sadly most religions deny the same to anyone that is not of their faith!!

Nearly all religions are suffering from extremists.

Whilst Islam gets a lot of bad press, Christianity in all its forms tends to try and interfere in non believers lives, to preach and attempt to dictate how others live.

Until religions learn to tolerate other people ideas and lifestyles they will quite rightly be criticised.

Interestingly the most honest criticism in the Anglican and Catholic churches is the numbers actually leaving those religions!!!

If someone were about to step out into the street in front of an oncoming vehicle, would you say nothing? If one proposes to spend time and money on a pursuit that is totally irrelevant, is that not worth a word of caution? Religion has touchy-feely uses, but is otherwise a waste of time and money.

When people say bad things about others - and that includes religion - they are showing their contempt for all of us!@

We have the right to say whatever we want about whatever we want. It's called Freedom of Speech. You have the right not to listen. That's the deal.

Because Jesus Christ shed His blood for me and died on a Roman cross and rose again, I have to tell others about it. I stand forgiven of sin and reconciled to God because of what Christ did for me. I am simply one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread. I have no wish to offend anyone.

I agree...I don't believe in organized religion but that doesn't give me the right to criticize yours.
