Hi,

I am interested to know that according to authentic chinese feng shui, where do I place my gold fish bowl in the living room. Also interested to know the number of fish I can place in the bowl, as well as what do I feed the fish and how many times. Do I need to change water daily and are gold fish easily available.

Thanks

it is case to case basis when it comes to water placement, or where to put your fish bowl. it is really easy when you get to know how to know flying stars concept and how to analyze them. since fish bowl like water fountains have movement, you'd want them to be placed in an area with good energy combination (flying stars), or at least it is supported by a fengshui theory that it is a good location.

since water is an element, it is a powerful tool in fengshui, that we need to be specific in where to place them. because moving water (fish bowls/ fountains) do not only activate good areas, they also activate bad areas. because of this, you need to calculate them specifically.

in flying stars, you get to "fly the stars" based on the degree of your main door/ facing. there are many theories with regards to water like 5 ghost carry money (nothing to do with ghosts, but can make people work harder), water dragons, etc.

number of fish is not really important; i always believe that the more the merrier! other people even believe that black fish absorbs illnesses. i am just particular about fengshui that involves calculations and proper applications.

in flying stars, water is used to make your home timely or lucky/ activated in the present period, which is 8. so, you need to know where is water 8. and put the fish bowl there. the location varies from one house to the next, it is based on the facing of your main door.

other people say that it is not important where you put water features as long as it flows inward, what if, you placed them in areas where it is supposed to flow outward, because it is considered a bad for you to let it flow inward, then you get to know it when it is all too late.

regarding the answer of others:
a master told me that it is not good to put windchimes because they attract ghosts.

i don't believe that it is better to remedy a bad situation (like putting a ba gua, mirror or windchime), because you DO NOT enhance it, and make it better, you JUST MAKE IT NEUTRAL, BUT THE BAD IS STILL THERE. would it be simpler to make the whole thing positive as in a renovation? then the bad would no longer be there.

i do not really believe that mere colors can change fengshui, if that were the case, then we would not be studying fengshui, and we'd all be millionaires instead! fengshui is more about calculations and application - not about colors to make you feel good. obviously, people who write about these got their idea of fengshui from books or from people who have no idea regarding fengshui.

* if you are interested in learning flying stars, get a book by eva wong; get the second edition it has more examples and exercises than the first edition. i think this is the cheapest way you can do it yourself fengshui, buy the book, get a luopan or a compass and learn how to fly the stars.

The most important corner in your home is the southeat corner.

Water should be clear & free flowing.
Never allow the fish tank to have dirty water. It is suggested removing 20% of the water, refilling with tap water...twice a week.

A fish tank with 8 goldfish and one black colored goldfish to absorb the negative energy in your home. If your tank or bowl is not large enough for this many fish, it is suggested you use 3 goldfish and one black. 8 is the luckiest number.
Goldfish are easily available.
Feed them floating flake fishfood as directed on the label.

Other feng shui wealth cures:

Place a fountain in the front of your home faceing inward.
Turning it off at night to allow the energies to rest.

No pictures of violent rainstorms in your home.

The colors of wealth are red and green. Have vibrant trees in your home. They may be silk or real. Be sure to dust the silk and real trees to keep the pores open on the tree to allow the chi to flow. Red flowers in the home especially in the office and in the living room.

Pictures of water scenes. The scenes should depict clean flowing water. Fisherman with a great haul in their boats.

Windchimes or fish mobiles in the SE corner of your home.

Bowls on the kitchen table overflowing with fresh produce. Use a little bowl to make it look as if you have an excess of produce.

Place a mirror in your dining room to enlarge the table.

Cover all drains to keep the money in your possession.

Keep bathroom doors closed and have your bathroom sparkling clean.

The pathway to your front door should not be a straight line.

Think of the fish bowl as mostly Shui. Think of the question as mostly Feng. There you have it.

Every Chinese I know puts the bowl wherever they like to see it and out of reach of the cat.

You can get feeder goldfish for around 25 cents each, but they don't do well in a fish bowl. Get an aquarium instead.
