More bad answers. Ya'know, it only took me 2 minutes to locate this on the net. I've only posted this same answer dozens of times in the past. Yet these people continue to give the wrong answers.

Debt collector wanna-be's?

The source below is from the Fair Debt Collections Act. It's fairly obvious to anyone who can read that repeated calls are illegal.

Just send the collection agent a "cease and desist" letter and the calls will stop immediately. If they don't you can sue them for $1000 in small claims court. That will offset some of your debt, wouldn't it?

this is illegal, and it is harrasment. I would not only call the customer service team from that company but also send them a letter (and keep a copy of the letter for your records).Tell them they are to stop calling you or you will pursue legal action and contact the BBB.thats all you have to tell them. It is also illegal for them to contact you outside of normal business hours or on weekends, they are allowed by law to contact customers between 9 am and 5 pm Monday - Friday. If you now its them calling, just dont answer your phone. You can change your phone number as well.

They can and will keep calling. Check out www.clarkhoward.com First you have to tell them to stop calling, and then send them a certified letter requesting they do not call you. But that does not eliminate the debt, it just stops the harrassing calls. Also the debt that you owe can and probably will be reporting to the credit agencies, a bad mark stays on your credit report for up to 5yrs.

Nope - never heard that one

They can call you as many times as they want to, until you pay your bills

Arrange a monthly payment in order to pay it quickly - although interest rates may not be frozen

Collection agencies do not have the legal right to harass and that being the case are limited as to the amount or times at which they can call.
You further have the right to have them contact you by mail only.
