A very noble idea! All I would suggest is that, when you speak about Christian love, that you do not do so at the expense of Godly truth. I have always referred to it as the balance between Ephesus and Thyrtia (Revelation 2-3). These are two churches the Lord Jesus Christ gave opposite evaluations to. Ephesus was strong on its doctrine, yet had lost its first love, and the Lord threatened to "remove their lampstand from its place if they did not repent" (a.k.a. they had lost their testimony in the community) Thyrtia had become more fervent in their love, yet was allowing a woman the Lord refers to as "Jezebel" persuade others into wrong, unholy practices, and he says his judgment will arrive soon if they don't put a stop to it.

Godly love and Biblical truth! Both must be kept in balance, because, in reality, you cannot have one without the other. My prayers for your message this Sunday! God Bless!

The story of the Good Samaritan is a good place to start. At my church, my Pastor uses stories often as a talking point for a sermon topic and it keeps everyone's attention, including children. Also, walking through a story to talk about a topic keep you on track so that you won't stray to something else during your sermon.

Hope this helps!

Assuming you have your church leaders blessings...

I was just pondering Jesus washing the disciples feet. What if you begin with Jesus and show His kindness in this way. As his professed followers, how much more should we do the same for others?

Washing someone's feet does not have to happen literally.

It could come in the form of, allowing someone to go in front of you at the grocer. Or it could be giving up your seat on the bus. It could be buying someones gas at the pump. It could be as simple as a smile or as complex as helping someone develop a financial plan for their lives.

I am sure you see where I am going with this.

Jesus showed the greatest love and kindness when he came and died on the cross for our sins.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Jn. 15:13 also you might look at the preceeding verse "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you." Jn 15:12.

You can look in your Bible and find all kinds of acts of kindness and love. Pick and choose the ones you need. Just read the Bible you will get what you need. Some Bibles have indexes. Look up love in there and find related scriptures. I am sure you will do well.

Ok, so if I ask a question like "I want to hear from someone about kindness and love for people" will you share your thoughts?

At the church I'm a member of, we don't have a paid clergy, so every Sunday 2 or 3 people (who have been pre-assigned a topic) give a talk on the topic assigned to them. It's wonderful, because you get to hear from people, not some paid clergyman. You get to hear and feel their testimony and learn from them.

Look for my question. I'll post it soon.

UPDATE: I posted my question, but it got deleted. I had some good answers and was going to pick a best answer today. Wonder who reported me?

You need a church like ours, The Jesus Army. Our local congregations have what is known as body ministry. Members of the congregation are enciouraged to contribute to the meeting.

Surely the people in church already know about kindness and love. It's the people outside the church you should be talking to.

You can!! And it doesn't have to be from the pulpit. Talk to people outside, in front of the church. And if you get your chance to speak publicly, be prepared. And remember the gift you've been given is sacred. Cherish the blessing.

Marv wonder if you are looking for help for speech or if you are wanting to know how to go about it.

You can send Marv a message and she'll help you find verses, if you know what you want to say, talk to preacher and ask if you can have some time. It is courtesy to have copy of what you are going to say approved by preacher

Why don't you ask the Elders if you can deliver a sermon one Sunday or maybe Sunday night.
