I'm very familiar with Star Wars even though they don't go into elaborate detail on the beliefs. But how does this apply to everyday life the way that someone else may be Christian or Pagan? If anyone belongs to this religion, can you explain in detail what it is you believe and how you apply it? I am genuinely curious.

(I saw someone in the Christmas section stating his beliefs were Jedi so I was wondering what that entails)

Cinnamon although it is a mythical religion made up to entertain the general public it still carrys with it alot of the same main principles. The force can be known as the chi, energy, meridians according to what context you use them in. Now the force is like the yin, and the yang, or Karma, good and evil. It is the balance.
Now in the good or the god like force(jedis) they feel that the force should be used for the greater good of everyone, and are therefore selfless when it comes to the way they apply their abilities. Where as the bad(the sith) they deal with absolutes, and use the force to attain power for self gratification and selfish agenda. Now it's a matter of how you perceive good and evil to be. For instance the christians would say the atheists are the sith because they are selfish and believe in no god, and that is evil. Where as the atheists could say the christians deal in absolutes if your not saved, and believe in jesus then you damned to hell. So it would seem they both feel justifed by what they believe. And this is why neither are wrong nor right, and it creates a balance, so that everyone has choice.
When someone says that they are a jedi knight religion, that only means that they believe in the universal force that allows people to achieve what some would believe to be god like powers(the jedi mind trick) But there are many such as I who believe that we all have abilitys, and with those abilitys we can walk what is presumed to be a path of the darkside(selfish, or self preservation, or the path of the jedi(selfless acts in order to maintain what is best for the good of all not just one) And in many aspects this can be applied to religious faith, and the hypocricy of what religious order stands for in many peoples perception. So with that being said choosing a force, rather than a religion is no more than saying I believe in good and evil forces, and with both, I will find balance. I wish you well.

i don't think the jedi knight "religion" is religion per se since religions usually require a deity. i think it's a way of life and believing how the universe works; pretty much like believing in the ecosystem, that everything is interconnected, every organism inhabit and depend on each other; we can say that the ecosystem is like the force. so if something causes an imbalance to the system, like cutting off all trees in an ares, certain repercussions will happen, like flash floods, erosions, etc. its the same with the jedi "religion", if something causes the dark side of the force to gain the upper hand, certain consequences will occur. so balance has to be kept. this is just my opinion though. its just science fiction anyway. but we can still learn something from it.

If you would learn more of Eternal Wisdom that influenced George Lucas (and thus, Jedi beliefs), read The Tao de Ching. Also read The Book of Five Rings. Both of those will help. The Force, which is talked about in mystical terms, is another name for The Tao. Of course the True Tao may not be described at all.

Peace.

The Jedi Knight religion as I understand it centers around the Force. They rely on the Force as a source of strength.

I have a friend who is a Jedi. Frankly, I think he's very confused (and not just over religion, over every aspect of his life, but that's a long story). I can understand the whole "Force makes up the universe, do good things because bad will only warp you" mentality, but I draw the line when he starts insulting my religion, insulting me, and insulting my family.

Um.

A bunch of British people put "Jedi" as their religion on the census one year.

So many did it that it became a written option on the British Census. It's a joke. I actually know a guy who's registered as a Jedi.

Hi. Great question. I am a priestess of the Great Goddess, Isis, and I have always wondered about the Star Wars theology that some Christians profess. I hope that this question builds bridges of understanding among many of us who are from similar but unique planets, if you get what I mean.

Most Christians deal in absolutes, so do the sith. lol. But the jedi are like the Tibetan Monks. I think these people have way to much time on their hands.

What exactly is the Jedi knight religion? It is fictional, made up in the mind of George Lucas. He isn't exactly a prophet. Hell, he isn't much of a filmmaker for that matter.
