A few years ago my husband and I went to the Blackberry Inn, Camden Maine. Their website is good with pictures of all the rooms etc. Our room was quite nice, spa bath w/fireplace. It's a bed and breakfast, and as I recall, the breakfast was INCREDIBLE! Camden has a downtown area with shopping and restaurants, many of which are open year round. Nearby is the town of Rockland where there are more shops, restaurants and the Farnsworth Museum if you like American art. Its a great place if you want a quite little get away!

Also, inbetween Camden and Rockland is the Samoset Resort. Right on the water with a golf course right on the grounds. There is a long breakwater that you can walk along. My family used to go there in the winters for weekends and as I recall there is a heated pool, really nice lobby with big windows that look out on the water and the restaurant was WONDERFUL!

The Camden/Rockland area is about 4 hours from Boston.

I hope you find the perfect spot for you and your love!

We just went for a honeymoon in Maine--Bar Harbor to be exact.

Very few "huge" hotels exist there. We're talking about an ENTIRE STATE with a popluation of 1,274,923. Not very large.

You need to decided a few things before you start demanding a hot tub.

1) What is your price range? If you want a hot tub and luxury rooms, you are going to pay upwards of $300+ PER NIGHT.

2) WHERE are you staying? Bar Harbor is worth at least one night. BUT you won't find any hot tub.

3) WHY do you need a hot tub in the room? Yes, it's romantic. Sure it would be nice. But do you really need that to make your honeymoon romantic? Nope.

4) Remember that no honeymoon is going to be perfect. Learn how to suffice with what you have, even if that means staying at a cheap hotel to get a nicer hotel. We stayed a $60/night hotel in Quebec with a shared bathroom, but splurged in Vermont and Bar Harbor.

5) Are you going to Maine for the sex or to enjoy the scenery? Look at your priorities. You are NOT going to stay inside for 13 hours a day. Relook at that priority as well.

That is the best way to have a honeymoon. We went to a spa & inn, it was nice. We had body scrubs, massages facials so on. Last year we stayed at a hotel on a business trip, there was a jacuzzi in the room. We had loads of fun. I wish our honeymoon would have been like that. Just plan a head have your food bought ahead of time, finger food is nice. Good Luck we are going again, just to have a 3rd honeymoon.

Have you ever been to maine?

If so then you know the big hotels are are around portland and the farther north you go the more sparse things get.

It just depends on what part of maine you are looking to stay at, and how far you want to drive, because from Bangor up you are going to be driving a long way to what ever you are wanting to get to. It snows alot and early in maine up north.

Maine is very different, its urban near portland and VERY rural past bangor.

you can get that at pretty much any hotel- you just need to request a jacuzzi room. (i know this because i lived in one at a Marriot for 4 months) so you can definitely just get one at a regular hotel.
