don't all human beings have the same rights, simply because they are human?

I don't know. However, I suspect that the percentage fairly closely matches the percentage of Americans that are the direct offspring of those that illegally entered this country and dropped an "anchor baby".

-- Edit --

Just wanted to add that there is a big difference between legal and illegal immigrants. Legal immigrants, of course, have the same legal rights as any other US citizen.

your question is in complete are you talking about legal or illegal. the latter should all be sent back where they came from. I think you'll find that most Americans would agree the bull that immigrants work harder is quite wrong. It's that Americans get tired of trying to compete with there lower wage requirements after all how would like living in a one room apartment with ten others. I've been a supper on many jobs give me an American that is getting paid what he's worth any day. he's worth twice to three times as much.

Legal immigrants should have the same rights as all Americans, the US is made up from many nationalities. If you are illegal you are a criminal and you should be sent back to where you came from and stop sucking our economy dry.

It's important to remember that 1st generation immigrants came here to become US citizens. They WANTED to speak English; they wanted to blend with American culture and add to it's richness - not by starting their own communities and insisting on speaking their language - but by assimilating into the culture.

They had to pass tests IN ENGLISH and in order to gain citizenship. When they came here, they had to have a "sponser' - someone who would provide that person a place to live and help get them employment before they ever set foot in this country.... and it took a long time.....

There was no free lunch, no government programs to take advantage of.... it was a priviledge to be a citizen. We have deteriorated tremendously....and it affects our society today. Part of what makes this Country great is that's it's a melting pot and everyone but the American Indian is an immigrant....... that's my stand.... I do not believe that people should just waltz into this country with no self-responsibility. It hurts the country in general, supporting illegal immigrants as well as people who come here to take advantage of opportunities without some sacrifices.

I think that there should be something to differentiate legal occupants from those that are not here legally. If illegal immigrants have the same rights as legal immigrants do, what is the incentive to gain citizenship? We are all humans, regardless of our country of origin, and should be treated as such, but it is not fair to for someone who is here illegally to have the same rights, without the same responsibilites (taxes).

Immigrants have basic rights when they come to this country. But they should not have the right to social programs (i.e. Food Stamps) and burden are health care programs.

Why is it that every "illegal" immigrant I have ever seen or have known worked harder than ANY white citizen I have ever known and yet whites are constantly saying illegal immigrants are sucking the country dry? Maybe you should pick on white trailer trash welfare cases who just drink beer and smoke while pregnant and watch Jerry Springer. Oh wait, that's most of middle America. They're the ones worried about where all the money is going, their scared they might actually have to work for a change! Damn white people are lazy!

I believe that all immigrants should have the same rights as I enjoy, but I also believe that "illegals" should go home.
