No, seriously. I think and do for myself and I seem to do just fine.

nikkor13, you are pretty damn arrogant to consider non-Christians to be little more than human animals. You do not need God or any religion to have a deeper understanding of the world.

msender77, you obviously do not understand the question. The Constitution and laws are supposed to be free of the taint of religion so everyone is treated equally. I guess common sense does not register for you.

That's a better question, even, than you think it is! You've noticed that some people have no morals, and need a book and/or an invisible, all-seeing 'person' to keep them straight. Some people know right from wrong without an instruction manual.

Rock on, friend. You're doing fine!

You should be concerned with the ultimate destination of your soul. Certainly you can conduct your life without God. Millions do. But I consider these sort of people to be no more than human animals, guided and restricted by their five senses. These senses are designed to function in a physical world. The same as any other animal. But to perceive God requires something else. What I call for want of a better word, a "knowing". A vague understanding. A form of communication. It is something like that feeling you get when you're in love, if I may make a crude analogy. But much deeper and softer. Contemplative. A very private and personal feeling. I think of it as another sense, poorly developed in all but the most devout. Reading the Scripture and prayer deepens that feeling. Everyday worries and concerns decreases it. Negative feelings cuts it off entirely. Just to prove my point, spend 15 minutes in the evening, quietly, reading anything by the Apostle Paul. Do this for a couple of weeks. Chances are, you'll begin to feel what I feel. You'll begin to answer your own question.

We all think we can do just fine and that's really the problem. We're just not as wise as we think we are. Unfortunately many people never realize this fact and many people don't believe the people who have realized this. The truth is there is stark difference in the quality of my life when I'm doing what I think is right vs doing what God knows it's right.

I guess it hard to think that anyone would what's best for yourself more so than your self but there is. It is the one who created you He knows you better than yourself and can help a better life than the "just fine" one you're living now. And by the way its not able rules it's about relationship. The only way to experience this better life isn't by picking up the Bible and trying to live everything it says in your own power (many people try this and get utterly discouraged) but to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord of you life and be in relationship with you. God will show you your true purpose and you will live the abundant life.

But you don't have to believe me you need to just take God on His word. Try him and you to will see that he is good.

Religions claim to be the fount of moral ideas, but such claims are false. Moral standards arise from evolution, which applies to societies as well as to species. A society which flourishes over the long term will do so because its moral code is appropriate; one which fails (e.g., the Shakers and the Communists) will do so because its moral code is not appropriate. Since the ideas of not committing murder and not stealing seem to be fairly universal among present day societies, one may infer that these are valid moral precepts, and by considering the effects that rejecting them would have on a society, one can see that this is reasonable.

Right, but this world is a vapor and where when your life on this earth is up are you going to spend eternity at? If you do not have a personal relationship with the God head.....Father, Son,and the Holy Spirit you will find out and that won't be fine.

There are the 10 commandments. They are the basis for right and wrong in the Christian world. When we hit a crisis in our lives, as a Christian, God is comforting and spiritually, it is consoling to reach out in prayer. No one, and I mean no one goes through life without a crisis. Just remember this. You don't have to be a Christian to believe there is a higher being and to pray to whom ever is very comforting. Sometimes a close friend or relative is not enough to give us answers.

What would you think of a surgeon who said he never read a medical book ....he just thinks and does for himself and YOU will be just fine?
Anybody who wants to become something must study the subject.
Should we not be humble enough to admit our maker could give us a few pointers .....especially after examining human history?

God is God, and you are not. Think about how small you are (we are) compared to the universe. You really want to say you don't need God? I need God.
