My Mom didn't call my 4yo on her birthday, nor did she send a card! How do I handle this?

I don't know about you, but after having children, I have this thing called Baby Brain. I find that the more children I have, the less I am able to remember all those dates. I've just missed a couple of important events because my system of keeping track fell down. Give her the benefit of the doubt and get your 4yo to call her.

I'm sorry you got disappointed. It's really possible your mother just forgot, you know? As we get older we don't always remember all the things we should, or even things we want to remember. I'd call your mother and ask if she's okay and say, "I was thinking something might be wrong, since you forgot "Lisa's" birthday last week. Then you will get an answer. Don't be too harsh until you know she deliberately didn't call or send a card.

Have you phoned her lately? Maybe she was in an accident or is sick. Does she normally send cards and call? Give your Mom the benefit of doubt, that there was a good reason for her not sending a card, or calling. Talk to her and find out.

Sometime people get busy and forget birthdays. I'm a good one for that. I will remember a week in advanced then when it comes I sometimes forget about it until a day or two later. I'd just call her and talk about what you did for your 4 yr old birthday. I'm sure you'll find it just slipped her mind.

Just tell her, "Mom, "kid" had a wonderful 4 birthday last week...wish you had been there". Maybe she has alot of grandkids she can't keep tract of. Maybe she simply forgot. Don't make a big deal out of it. Godloveya.
