Pintor fight? I thought Zarate got out and out robbed in that fight. Pintor's face looked like the Elephant Man's after that fight. Zarate didn't have a scratch. The scoring was absurd 143-142,143-142 Pintor, 145-133 Zarate. Only in Vegas I guess. Do you think Zarate got robbed?

Brent ~
In my opinion, it was one of the worst robberies ever. Carlos did start off strong but I think he faded just a little bit in the later rounds but not enough for him to lose the fight. This was indeed a war with two of best fighters of their era.
Joyce Carol Oates who wrote a book on boxing used this fight to summarize Mexican fighters she wrote "The way these two men went at each other was breath taking, the savagery that they showed as they ripped into on another was unlike anything I have ever witnessed before, There were no hugs after this fight just a touching of gloves to say, Hey, we fought a mans fight"
Pintor was so swollen he did not look anything like the young Lupe that entered the ring that evening, Carlos had landed the more effective punches and seemed to be the more accurate of the two. Text book body punching done in this fight and both fighters threw their best shots that would haver stopped 99% of the fighters at that time.
Great question Brent, great fight!

Brent another great question sir!

Santana answered your question better than I can. Zarate clearly won the fight as he landed the more effective punches and Pintor looked like he had been put through a meat grinder. To Pintor's credit he fought a very brave and tough fight against Zarate but didn't deserve the decision in my opinion.

Ahhh, yes.... One of the most awesome displays of bodywork that I have ever seen. Zarate had him on my scorecard any easy 10 pts. I'm glad I didn't have to fight that one.....
