I truly believe people fall in love. You can get use to any one or their habits. However when you do meet that special someone who has your common interest and carries the qualities you want in your special someone. Its as they say "love at first sight". I would believe it to be sad for someone just to settle for anyone or as you say get use to each other, because then you never know if there is that special someone that just "clicks" with you.

Lust and infatuation are too many times mistaken for love. Love is too deep for most people to understand, never mind find. For whatever reasons we do get together with someone, our best shot at survival is getting used to each other because for each thing you "love" about a person, you'll hate two. Many older people will tell you the secret to their long marriage was learning to tolerate each other.

In my extensive experience (lol). i've found that attraction comes first, followed by finding a connection with each other. if you like each other enough, and there arent enough obstacles (differences, gaps etc) love can start and grow. usually starts as a kind of infatuation. i found getting used to each other comes much later, and doesnt always mean getting used to each other is a bad thing..
