Yes. This information can be found in the writings of the early church fathers and historians. These writings are NOT the gnostic gospels. You can go here:

http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/

Click on "Church Fathers" to see more.

Peace.

I believe it was a century after Jesus's death. It was preached to Christians as a way to hold faith while being persecuted by the Romans. Now the rapture gained many interpretations through history, with several different sects.

You can not find "the history" of the church anywhere, as there is no concensus as to how it formed, and there are too many missing pieces. Any timeline you might find is just an apologetic tool. Real historians have no such timelines available, as they know they don't really know.

Most everything you find on the internet will be tainted so avoid that route - or at least stick to the .edu sites. If you're interested in finding the truth rather than opinion, you need to read some scholarly works on comparative religion. I'd start wiht Mircea Eliade.

I'm not sure on the actual sight but it was where Christ said to peter upon this rock I will build my church.

Any conservative non-catholic church history text will give you that. Liberty University had a great church history text, bit I can not remember the title. You can contact them at www.liberty.edu,

There is a great book called "Misquoting Jesus" that researches church history:
