because you are not eating enough and/or not exercising. try this: eat 5-6 small meals a day.
i.e.
1. breakfast (cereal, white toast, yogurt, etc)
2. fruit
3. turkey sandwich, lean cuisine, or something light with fruit
4. veggies
5. granola bar
6. dinner.

drink LOTS of water. CUT OUT SODA and FAST FOOD AND SUGAR.

work out 3-5 times a week. make sure you do cardio or you will NOT lose weight. i have done this diet for 5 weeks now and lost 6 lbs already. you can do it!

Have you had your Thyriod Checked?
Are you on any Medications?

Granolla Bars are actually BAD for you. I don't know how they are increaseingly being labled as HEALTHY and GOOD and WHOLESOME by people as research years ago said they were BAD. It's just an increaseing trend/craze. More and more are being made,.. and those cereal bars,.. noone is paying attention to those countering what normal people do... nothing is getting through to people. There are some things like this that would be used with people that needed to gain weight or keep weight up. I am probably going to get alot of thumbs down for this whole paragraph because I have noticed people on here are like that, if it conflicts with their blind faith, urban myths, or anything like that they seem to do so. They have been trying to make these better, but at the same time their attempts at variety have been makeing new ones (like a certain Granolla type may not have exsisted 2 years ago) that are much worse for you.

If you were talking to a dietation they would probably bring up " What are you drinking?" because most people do not count what they drink. Even soft drinks are supposed to effect you.

On top of things, cutting down your food will cause your body to PANIC and try to gain weight because it thinks you are going to starve or run out of food soon. The people who weight the less eat the most,.. they eat totally random and not all at once or over filling. They also might have metabolisms that make is posible for them to constantly be scarfing down Candy and Maynoaise,.. as was the case for some girls I went to High School with that dragged backpacks of candy everywhere, drank Soda Pop everywhere, and never seemed to not be in the process of eatting, even in the bathroom.

Lastly,.. do you really need to lose weight? or is it just the weight gain is not makeing sense? SOME people can melt off weight by increaseing Milk and Cereal in place of Meals and Drinks and just adding a little exercise (nearly everyone is allergic to something in milk + cereal,.. even if they don't realize it,.. the Milk is not from a human and the chemicals in the Milk are nasty).

Cause your body is "freaking out". It's wondering why the famine. Lets store some energy since we work all day walking, we're going to need energy to do it.

So..... balance your food intake. Definately take out the cheesburgers and fries. But add some food to your day! Guarenteed that's the problem. The same place you bought the granola bars, go back and pick up some apples, oranges, carrots, yogurt cups, some bread, some turkey, mustard, make a sandwhich to bring to work. Take some of the other snacks.

The key to loosing weight is to not be hungry. Eat every few hours, and give it TWO weeks before you get on the scales again. You will loose weight, and get back on track. In fact, you will have more energy to do your job, and not the "fat" energy that your body is storing.

Good luck, it will work. Just stop starving yourself, or you'll continue to gain!

:)

It is not how much you eat, it is more what u eat and when. Eating junk food will make you put on weight inevitably because of the fat contained in the food. However if you cut on food you have to see what u are eating. If i eat 3 sandwiches in a day I will put on weight, whereas if i eat 3 or 4 steaks i will lose... this is because my body is more willing to process the steaks than it is to process cereals. You just have to find what your body enjoys processing.
Also an ancient indian saying should be kept in your mind at all times...
"that which is eaten in the morning is gold to your body, that which is eaten in the afternoon is silver and that which is eaten in the evening is trash"
Our bodies burn fastest between 12 and 3, if it has nothing to burn during those times, your metabolism will slow down.

I never had a problem with weight either until I started the pill. For the first few years it was okay but then I changed brands (approved by doctor, of course) and I bloated up and gained a bunch of weight. It also messed up my cycle. Never thought the weight gain on the pill would be that drastic. Are you on the pill? Maybe that's the cause. PS. I never weight myself so I couldn't tell you exactly how much I gained. I prefer mirrors to scales.

its not only the portion size you need to cut down on. you need to eat healthy foods but at the same time get some fat as well. also if you have cut down a lot your body might think that you are not getting enough food so it will store fat. so if you start to get hungry have a snack eg fruit. bananas are good especially in a physical job. with my job i am on my feet for 12 hours. so i will have 2 weetabix for breakfast, banana at 11, tuna salad with a little mayo, piece of bread and butter for lunch, banana at 4 and then i eat a meal when i get home. try it and see how you get on.
good luck

i had same problem - i stopped eating almost entirely during the day, then ate a regular dinner with dessert in the evening. i lost a bunch of weight at first but then it started coming back. only way to get it off & keep it off is to eat mini-meals during the day that include whole grains & fiber, and drink lots of water. exercise is important, too (although, with an active job, you might not need it as much).

Are you exercising less? It could be stress. Maybe you have changed what you are eating, to higher fat foods without realizing it.

Or maybe you are trying to hard, with weight issues. It's a whole life style, including everything, even how happy and satisfied you are with you're job.

If weight is a "healthy, feel good, feel better thing", than that can send you're mind and body and spirit a really possitive message, and they will all pitch in for you.

If it's just about looking good, that can lead to self-exploitation, which can be hurtful to yourself. So be honest with yourself, and dont fool yourself.

You're not eating enough. Your body thinks it's starving, so it's holding on for dear life to everything you feed it. You need to eat a better lunch at the very least. Granola bars just aren't enough for what your body needs. Your metabolism is slowing down as well.

I bet you have dieters amnesia, you forget what you eat! lol You cannot put on weight if you are eating less, especially in an active job.
Look at eating a more balanced diet, a proper breakfast, light lunch and evening meal with fruit snacks in between.
Do a couple of sessions at the gym each week, doing cardio. I have lost 56lbs in 16 weeks doiing this
