Simply say "I want to drop this class." you don't have to give a reason, but it might help the teacher improve the class for those that follow; if asked a reason and you don't want to go into detail you could simply say that it wasn't what you expected and you're not interested in the subject; you could also send an email or letter; if you are in college, why are your parents still treating you like you're in high school? personally, I'd just go to drop/add and drop the class; enough said!

IYou must know that you are NOT obligated to tell them anything, but I would heavily suggest that you do tell them honestly why you are doing so. Every teacher I have had (except for one) has asked for honest feedback. They want to know if what they are doing is working or not!!! I am working on my teaching certificate and I know that personally I would absolutely want to know the truth so that if possible, I could do something to rectify the situation so that nobody else would feel the need to drop my class for that reason.

You should be honest with them. Don't worry, they're still getting paid. They won't have their feelings hurt. Remember, you are paying them to educate you. Don't be shy about telling a teacher, "I am going to take this class with another professor"

BTW, I think it's kinda messed up that your parents are making you tell the teacher. Usually, you just tell the office, and the teacher might not ever miss you.

no need. if you do plan on taking the class again you may want to say something like "hey, this doesn't fit into my schedule right now but I'll see you in a few semesters" so theres's no akwardness later, but other then that, there is no need. College teachers expect a certain % of their class to drop.

Why do you have to tell them? Just go to the registrar and drop it... tell your Mom that when someone drops a class they just drop it they dont explain and they dont have to! Most of the teachers dont care anyhow...

Don't tell them, just drop it. If you have to tell them advise them you're going to take the class next semester your schedule is too busy this semester.

Simply and honestly.

Don't give the teacher a lame excuse. They have gone through this many times before, they understand. If they get angry, walk away, but it shouldn't happen like that.

Don't drag it out either.
