If you don't know, then don't take a chance. You can't always judge a book by it's cover.

You don't know, a lot of STDs are asymptomatic (without symptoms) in their early stages. You can go to a State run VD clinic - they are free - and pick up pamphlets on STDs. You can also read a lot about STDs on line - the Internet is a wonderful resource.

I worked in a State VD clinic in New York. It is ironic but most family doctors do not know that much about STDs, so you are better off contacting a State VD clinic for help.

Different STD's manifest a variety of symptoms. Frequently a person with an STD might not know they have a disease.

Use a condom. Better safe than sorry.

Painful urination. (This often is the first symptom and may be the only symptom.)
Fever.
Cloudy urine.
Abnormal discharge from the penis.
Crusting at the tip of the penis.
Sores, lumps, blisters, rashes, or warts on or around the genitals.
Pain, swelling, or tenderness in the scrotum (epididymitis).
Itching, tingling, pain, or burning of the genitals.
Deep pelvic ache (prostatitis).
Many STD symptoms will go away or change quickly. This does not mean that the STD has gone away. It will be more difficult for your health professional to diagnose your STD after the symptoms have changed. A delay in being evaluated may lead to a more serious illness.

Note: If you suspect you may have symptoms of an STD: Do not have sexual contact or activity while waiting for your appointment. This will reduce the possible spread of infection to your partner.

Some STD's don't have symptoms or only flare up occasionally so you wouldn't know.
You can either ask to see the results or have a medical check up where you are tested for these before you start having intimacy or you can hope & pray that your new partner has told you the truth and wear condoms.
YOU CANNOT TELL BY LOOKING AT SOMEONE.

You don't. Quite simply. ALWAYS use a johnny. Some STD's, like Herpes (that cause the cold sores, or sores down below) you cant see, even if he has the virus on his hands, nose, mouth, penis, etc. You just cant tell. He could have Herpes and not know it, as men usually get it much less severely than women. Other than that, you can't tell with other STD's like chlamidiya, HIV, etc. And prevention is always better than cure. (Well, for HIV there is no cure yet...)
LOVE, SEX, LOTTERY!!! Dont lose out, always use a Johnny. Im not preaching, its just not worth the risk. Play Safe!!xx

You won't know unless he tells you,,,,there are so many diseases you can get, unknowingly, so be careful. Example- Genital Herbie's can be transmitted when in remission (not visible), and once you have them you can never get rid of it, you have it for life, so I can-not stress enough it's up to YOU to keep yourself safe. Take Care of You

You don't always know. For example, he might have warts that aren't visible at the time (which is still highly contagious!) There are other diseases that you can't see either, like Syphillis, Gonorrhea, HIV (AIDS). Always have him wear a condom. Always!
