I had my tongue pierced 5 days ago. It really hurts to eat and my glands are swollen. It is so uncomfortable. My whole tongue is sore. How long does it feel like this?

Mine wasn't all that bad, I was eating solids that same night. Everyone is diffrent, so it's hard to say. I don't think your glands being swollen has anything to do with your tounge, but maybe you can go back to the person who pierced it and have them take a look. I KNOW they are no medical experts, but I'm sure they have seen many cases like your's and will be able to tell you if you should take it out or not. Plus they will probably take a look at it for free, whereas if you go to the doctor's you will prbably get charged out the ying yang, and doctors don't normally condone to piercing of the tounge so they will just tell you to take it out. I had my tounge pierced for a few years, and at the time it was cool, but to be honest it really IS bad for your teeth, it chips the enamel. Of course it is your opinion to have one and I know how you feel if you don't want to take it out especially since you just paind $50 dollars or more to have it done, but maybe you should think about taking it out!

If your glands are swollen and the tongue is still very sore, you most likely have an infection. My guess is you may not have used proper aftercare or the piercer may have messed up something, but either way, do not take out the jewelry and go see your piercer to see what you are doing wrong.

Are you a smoker or drug user? Often with people who do that they experience slower healing and soreness longer.

Mine stayed swollen for about three days and was sore for a week. Just be sure you rinse regularly with listerine and chew carefully, you should be fine in just another day or so. If not, you may want to contact the place that you had it pierced at for more information.

When I had mine done (10+ years ago) it was really sore for about 7 days then it started to feel better, if it doesn't feel any better after a couple more days, go to your doctor. The first thing he will do though is make you take it out!

Mine is the same way sweetie. It depends on the width of your tongue... Just goggle with mouth wash at least 3 times a day and also try to suck on ice through out the day and take a advil... It really helps alot.

if your glands are up then you might have an infection either from the piercing or just a cold or somehting, get it checked out to be safe.
My boyfriends took about 2 weeks to stop hurting. your half way there! good luck!

I kept ice in my mouth for about 5 days to keep the swelling down. It was painful for abou 1 or 2 weeks. Make sure you are using listerine with alcohol to kill bacteria and keep it clean after ANY food or liquid. Also, don't drink beer for at least a month if not 2.... you don't want a yeast infection in your mouth.

Its different for everybody! When i had mine done it was swollen for one day! But you just need to push through it!
Give it another couple of days and if its still swollen then go back to who ever pierced it!
Make sure you clean it EVERYTIME you eat drink or smoke!
And dont fart **** around with soft food and liquid food coz that makes it worse!

when i had mine done the swelling lasted for about 3 days, but the day after i was so fed up with eating soup / noodles that i managed to force a roast down! would maybe recommend getting it checked out if it hasn't settled down in a day or so.
