John 13:5
He began to wash the disciples' feet.

"The Lord Jesus loves His people so much, that every day He is still doing for them much that is analogous to washing their soiled feet. Their poorest actions He accepts; their deepest sorrow He feels; their slenderest wish He hears, and their every transgression He forgives. He is still their servant as well as their Friend and Master. He not only performs majestic deeds for them, as wearing the mitre on His brow, and the precious jewels glittering on His breastplate, and standing up to plead for them, but humbly, patiently, He yet goes about among His people with the basin and the towel. He does this when He puts away from us day by day our constant infirmities and sins." --Spurgeon's Morning and Evening

Who's feet would you wash today if you could?

Who would you humble yourself before and forgive them for any wrongs they might have done to you?

I am a manicurist by trade and this involves setting up a hand hammered copper bowl and washing others feet. Often times people share with me all the misery in their lives while they are sitting back and trying to relax.

It is a huge blessing and honor for me to care for people in this way. Usually by the massage I have learned all that needs to be prayed for and so I pray. While their eyes are closed and I am massaging their feet. I pray. I didn't use to be so caring.

It is no surprise to me that God landed me in a place where I am washing others feet all day long.

Anna:
True. It is a middle eastern custom, which is why the disciples were all the more perplexed when their Jesus, Lord and Savior began washing their feet instead of them washing his. A King washing his servants feet? How could this be?

Our Jesus humbled himself, what more as His professed followers should we do?

So, in that sense it is very much a Jesus thing, which I am now speaking.

2ndchapter:
Thank you for adding to this a wonderful perspective of Jesus. I love when brothers and sisters glean from the Scriptures together. It reminds me of tending to a field and gathering a harvest of amazing, living and breathing messages from our Lord. Thank you again for sharing.

This is a very special msg. that the Holy Spirit had given my husband and me.

So many times we forget that we need to minister to each other in the body of Christ, not just to the lost.
Satan puts a lot of stones on the path we walk our salvation on. Without a brother or sister to take the time to wash our feet, we get calloused and bruised.

I had an awesome revalation about the feet and did quite a study on them.

When Moses stood on holy ground he was told to be without shoes. I wondered why, and most said that He had to leave the dirt of the world behind. But I also believe that when God ministers to us, new word and revalation, that we need to be barefoot, taking off the old and putting on the new word He gives us.

Just as Jesus washed the disiples feet and sent them out into new ministry, and taught them to do to each other, as He was going to be crucified, and was not going to be physically present with them. He knew that they were going to have trials and need each other.

Sorry to be so lengthy, it was such a good study. I had so much to learn from it.

Be blessed as you wash the feet of Jesus, and His body. ~v~

This is a Mid-east custom-------not a Jesus thing.

It was many years ago, but there was a man in my life, and we were very close. He would come in at the end of the day and be tired and his feet would bother him. I always washed his feet in rose or orange water, and gave them a good massage.

I haven't done that literally since college (yes we actually did that in Bible study). The general principle is to help others, and I think that I have done that a lot recently.

Why? Are you volunteering? My feet need a massage.
