They are the same thing. The question should be who is it Spiritually they are hearing or seeing. It has to be the LORD God and His Kingdom. The Prophet / Seer get spiritual visions / dreams with a message for a people or everyone from the LORD God. Right now there are many Prophets rising.
There are also Prophets / Seers of the spiritual dark forces. That would be spirits in rebellion to the LORD God, or that would lead you away from the Good News of Grace. Salvation (everlasting life) is a gift that Jesus purchased for us at the cross.

A seer can see things that others cannot. A prophet speaks the word of the Lord to the people.

I'm with "I Want U2" The only difference is that a Prophet is called by God, but Prophets are usually also seers.

I believe that a SEER sees the past, present or future
A prophet can get glimpses, but a prophet speaks directly to, hears from and gives messages from God.
Or I could be totally messed up!

Let me use an example: If Seer is the actual milestone, a prophet tells you about the coming milestone.

A seer is a person who can see the future, but a Prophet is a messenger from God. Unfortunatly there are no more prophets since the destruction of the second Temple.

Well... A psychic and a prophet are on different borders. Each mind has specific elements which are susceptible to Extra Sensory Perception, Ie ESP. Psychic ability can form in many ways, from telepathy, to telekinesis. They are seen to 'prophesize' through either reading the future or other medians. A prophet however, gains their knowledge through their deity. I see no reason why any deity would condone a prophet, unless in the christian view, they are seen as a false prophet. I believe I may be right in thinking, but let me know if I'm not, but Jesus would have been a prophet, as would Moses etc. I couldn't see it being condoned to speak with them.

1 Samual 9:9 tells us they're the same: "Formerly in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, he spoke thus: “Come, let us go to the seer”; for he who is now called a prophet was formerly called a seer."
Peace.

Yes.
All seers today are frauds.
All prophets today who claim to be seers are frauds. The office of prophet is still open. Prophets are not future (fortune) tellers, they are hell-fire and brimstone preachers of the Word of God. There are few today. There are many wanna-be prophets .

A prophet is called of God, but both are the same in what they do, but the seer is not called of God.
