Does anyone know of a good health insurance program for children in the state of NJ? My husb currently has family coverage with his local union and they pay for NOTHING !!!! We keep getting bill after bill even for doctors that are part of the network and no one seems to want to help us. We want to cancel the coverage but we need something for our children.

Every state offers a Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP) with low cost or free insurance based on your income.

You work hard to provide for your children and want to make sure they grow up strong, smart and healthy. But like many parents whose children don't have health insurance, you worry about taking care of them.

Now, you may have one less thing to worry about. Your state, and every state in the nation, has a federally sponsored health insurance program for infants, children and teens. The insurance is available to children in working families, including families that include individuals with a variety of immigration status. (Materials are available that explain more about immigration and children's health insurance.)

For little or no cost, this insurance pays for:

* doctor visits,
* prescription medicines,
* hospitalizations, and
* much more.

Kids that do not currently have health insurance are likely to be eligible, even if you are working. The states have different eligibility rules, but in most states, uninsured children 18 years old and younger, whose families earn up to $34,100 a year (for a family of four) are eligible.

To learn more, make a free call to 1-877-KIDS-NOW for more information.

If you make over $34,100 as a household per year then there are still affordable options. Health insurance is best found by investing time, educating yourself and comparison shopping. InsureMe(http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?Refby=614504&Type=health), NetQuote & other sites are designed to be an invaluable resource for insurance shoppers like you in this process. Fill out our easy form, and you can get up to five insurance quotes from insurance agents who can help you make the best decision regarding your insurance. Once again, shop around, get multiple quotes, and learn all you can about a policy before you buy health insurance.

Take care,

No, the US should not do the same because our government wasn't formed to support moochers, eventhough many people think they are entitled to get anything free that they can. If you can't provide for your children, you should not have children, or you should educate yourself to become marketable to a corporation that provides health insurance. You could also join the military. They have great benefits.

I had a same feel like you until I found the following site. I live in Texas. You should get same service since they cover all 50 states.

Check this one:

http://www.jollainsurance.com

Check the Health Insurance, then enter your basic information. You will be contacted by the licensed agents with their best quote for your insurance needs.

You should be one or more quotes with one time input.

I got mine from them after I was offered 5 quotes.

NJ FamilyCare might be what you’re looking for (I’ve included a link below). New Jersey also puts out a HMO report card each year (link below) that rates local area HMO plans.

If you’d like to compare New Jersey family health plans to see if you can find a full-featured policy that’s affordable, try comparing plans through MostChoice.com. You can review NJ plan information on the site and speak to NJ agents without any obligation.

You can visit MostChoice here: http://www.mostchoice.com/health-insurance.cfm

Hope this helps,

Call Medicaid. While you may not qualify, they will be able to give you the names of the state health programs for kids. Every state has these programs, they are just called different things in each state.
