Talk to your doctor immediately. He/she will be able to provide you with lots of resources and support for post-partum depression. Do it now, for the sake of your own sanity and your daughter, because if left untreated it could bring your baby harm.

Post-partum depression is VERY real and usually requires professional help - and I don't mean that in a negative way; however, the longer you prolong the illness, the deeper the affects it will have on your every day life. This is not an illness you can just "snap" out of, it generally requires medication, an SSRI, which is a serotonin reuptake inhibitor to get you - and your serotonin - back in balance. Taking walks is good, if you feel up to it, but for most who are suffering from depression, whether it's clinical or post-partum, getting out is the last thing on their minds. Talking your feelings over with someone who isn't judgmental also helps, taking some time away from the baby is helpful as well. I, too, live in Florida, but those oceanside walks are NOT always the answer.

Perhaps you might want to take a good look at what ELSE is going on in your life also. Of course, post partum depression is not to be taken lightly or ignored and if it is this bad it might be wise to seek psychiatric care as soon as possible. Then, when you are talking to the doctor you can explore the wider scope of how life is treating you in general and what this may or may not have to do with your depression.

Talk with your doctor about how you feel. I would suggest going natural for a way to help with depression and not with medication. What I mean is that a lot of times proper diet and exercise can boost your mood and help fight off depression. If this of course doesn't help then yes I would get medication but only as a last resort. Just talk to your doctor soon. You dont have to live this way.

i think i know how u feel..

after my delivery to my boy, i couldnt cope with myself in the 1st month. although i have help which means i just need to feed the baby and no work (hubby, in-laws and a house helper with household chores) i just feel depress. and there would be occasions that i would just tears..

to me, i was confused abt being a mom. like i feel like a cow! honestly! ok i know it may sound hilarious but i felt lost. and i had difficulties breastfeeding on one breast cos it hurts (it bled on one feeding)

i think family support is very very important.

for now, im still learning to be a mommy to him..

i hope you'll get over this phase real soon :)

put her in the stroller and take her someplace you can walk around and look at nature; an oceanside sidewalk or trail. you must get out of the house and move around. you could use a snugli or stroller.
bring her with you. the answer is move, move, move your body. try taking mommy & me yoga classes or even go swimming.
activity will be the solution. if you can't motivate yourself, make plans with other moms to meet and do activities with the babies.

there is such a thing as ante-natal depression as well as post-natal depression. Speak to your doctor - there are different ways you could deal with this. Sometimes councelling helps other times medication helps. It whatever suits you, but please speak to someone - they're there to help.
