How can you tell if you have bruised your tailbone? I had a biking accident, where I hurt my butt, and my butt has hurt ever since. The area that hurts is both sides of my upper buttocks. If I did bruise my tailbone, how do I get it to heal?

I think I've bruised my tailbone before and it hurts like hell. I didn't do anything about it, eventually it just got better on its own. If you are really worried though you should make an appointment with your GP and they will give you all the answers you need.
Hope you feel better soon!

Oooo, ouch!! I did that several years ago, slipped on black ice and down I went. Actually I cracked my tailbone. Not much you can do, except "suck it up". My doc recommended I buy a kids plastic swimming inner tube and sit on that. It did relieve some of the pressure, but I sure did get sick of carrying that thing whereever I went!!! How long will it last? Well, depends on how hard you bruised it and how fast of a healer you are. I'm a slow healer, so it took many months before I could sit, stand, or walk with out any pain. Good luck. I know what you are going thru.

It will take some time but some things that helped me were soaking in a hot bath with rubbing alcohol which will help with the healing and for the pain. Also if you have to sit for long periods of time try sitting on a soft pillow, and it would not hurt to take some aspirin or Tylenol. hope that you feel better!

I broke mine and my wife split hers during childbirth. There is just about nothing you can do for it except wait. They don't fix broken toes or bruised or broken tailbones.
