my insurance will only pay for half the dosage my doc prescribed

Your best bet is to go back to your doctor and see if she/he can intercede on your behalf. I know that in some cases it's a question of medical coding (although that usually relates to medical procedures and not doses). It might even be a clerical error, or it might be that the insurance company has medicinal treatment guidelines and your prescribed dose falls outside those guidelines.

See what your doctor's office says and contact the insurance company yourself and ask them why they will not back up the doctor.

If you are having trouble paying for your prescription meds, try Needy Meds or Partnership for Prescription Assistance (links below).

Good luck!

Read your insurance policy. Does it say that they can adjust dosage or prescription recommended by a doctor? Appeal the decision if you can't find anything in the contract to support what they did.

you can always complain, but it won't do you any good.
