It's a question of taste - but for me it's salt every time. Porridge is a great way to start the day - nice slow energy release. Enjoy!

Best to add salt whilst actually cooking the oats. Sugar can be added later - i personally like porridge with a dash of milk, knob of butter and sprinke of sugar. Mmmmm, can't wait for the col winter mornings now!!

Salt, ONLY salt!! What is this sugar thing? UGH! some sissy sassenach abomination !

Add some salt when cooking the porridge (which is cooked with porridge oats and WATER). Then serve with rich creamy milk and another sprinkle of salt. Heaven!

my Mom always had hers with salt and butter !!

every one else, in my family liked it with sugar

porridge oats;
are best soaked overnight in half milk half water

In the morning ! cook gently till it bubbles & thickens
( 10--20 minutes)
adding a little more milk,
to bring it, to your favorite consistency .

Both, the salt brings out the flavour of the oats and the sugar sweetens it.

It needs a bit of salt for the taste of the oats to come out.
Then at the end you add sugar (and cold milk) to taste, on top.

Salt and sugar.

Both are required. Salt while cooking, sugar on top when served. I also add butter and milk to each bowl before topping with sugar.

Definately a pinch of salt. When cooked try adding a sliced banana instead of a spoonful of sugar. Better for you.

Well, I've never actually tasted real porridge. But when it comes to oatmeal or grits, it's sugar all the way!

North of the border salt, south of the border sugar. That's the Scottish border.
