Being 'unhappily' in love seems much worse. Not being in love leaves the way open for it to occur. In essence, it is a temporary situation. Being unhappily in love is much worse in that there's a degree of permanency about it. One reason for this permanency is that it's partly driven by fear...fear of the alternative...fear of the unknown...fear of being alone...fear that we are not good enough...fear of a lack of money...fear of the emotional pain. There may be 20 other fears that enhance this sad situation. This is why people stay 'unhappily in love'. For many relationships, this situation will stay unaddressed. And whilst it stays this way, there's almost nil chance of finding real love....and their life will continue to be unhappy. At the end of the day, people deserve to be happy. And to love and be loved. But this cannot occur if we don't take the necessary measures to expose ourselves to real happiness and love. And it starts within oneself - by addressing and removing a lifetime of fears. These fears have been buried away below layers of excuses to prevent the pain associated with the inherent fear from reoccuring.
By comparison to not being in love - to be 'unhappily in love' is a tragedy to all concerned and rather unfair to children in particular who see and live this situation as being 'normal'. Furthermore, people who are 'unhappily in love' are being unfair to themselves. It all changes when the fears within are appropriately dealt with. To do nothing will certainly change nothing...and that is hardly ideal role modelling for the next generation.

I don't think you can be unhappily in love. What I am saying is: if you are unhappy, you probably aren't really in love.
Not being in love does not have to be boring if you are secure in yourself.

Being unhappily in love takes the cake. Nothing more gut wrenching then that. Whats the point of the love if it doesn't make you happy ??

Unhappily in love. In fact, ANYTHING in love. When you're not in love, you can do anything you want without worrying about what someone else will think of you. Love is a total waste of energy.

there is no such thing as 'unhappily in love'
loving someone and being in love are two totally different things.
i'd take being in love any day over the other :)

Neither is good enough. But first option is superior to the second one. At least u are not unhappy.
