It is maybe the only remaining legal way to discriminate against homosexuals. Homosexual couples do not have insurance, social security and inheritance rights because they are not married. They cannot get married because they are homosexuals. Some great circular reasoning don't you think?

Morality is based on culture. Our culture at this point in time is against it.

I do not see where people get that marriage is a Christiain or Jewish custom. Read history and even the Greeks and Romans who were very pagan had husbands and wives of the opposite sex. They did not see anything wrong with homosexuality or bisexuality and some very famous rulers had many wives and mistresses and many male partners as well.

Marriage as I understand it was For inheritance purposes and the other lovers and their children were just there for pleasure.

Think about it if marriage was only for the Jew or Christian then why did Pilate have a wife and the other rulers?

All I can say about today, is if you want same sex marriages, then vote for those people you feel will help bring about that.

There is nothing wrong with gay marriage in real life or in the bible. I have never read where Jesus says two people of the same gender should not marry. Sure some people translate passages (mostly old testament laws of men not god) to mean whatever they want. But truth is they use one passage against gay people while they eat shellfish and wear clothes of mixed fabrics which, according to other passages in the same book of the bible are equally as abominable. Then again Jesus said that all the OT laws (of men) were nto of god thus they were not applicable (and that included the need to circumcise by the way).

So, I say, marry for love and worry not about the gender of yoru partner. Love them, cherish them respect them and be loyal and truthful in all ways to them for as long as ye shall be together.

There is nothing wrong with it and an enormous amount that's right with it.

Gay marriage would be helpful in society: It would lead to more stable relationships, would promote quality health care because of increased insurance coverage, would avoid costly legal maneuvers needed to secure couples' medical and inheritance rights, and would ease anxiety within the couple regarding their legal safety.

And as for Apostle1938's answer above: What is different in these warnings between gay marriage and straight marriage?

Well, you can't say apart from the Bible, cause Marriage is an institution created by God (or first mentioned in the Bible). Marriage is two people coming together before God. Why? For him to Bless their union. So, if gay people want to get married why do they have to go to the church? They could get married just fine a city hall. But don't ask God to bless a union that he thinks is abominable.

I don't see the need for anyone to get married apart for the sake of the children. Alot of heterosexual marriages don't work so i cant imagine gay marriage working anyway. Having said that it is legal in UK now, and its their lives so if that's what they want its up to them. I'm atheist so have no problems with it because of religion.

Aside from the Bible?

You can't get aside from the Bible. The Bible is one of the books that will be opened on Judgment Day.
Along with the Book of Life. ( your life is being written in a book ) You will face God on Judgment day and your book will be open, the Bible will be opened and the two will be compared to see if your book and the Bible make a match.

Well everything has to go back to the bible, But if you just want to lay that aside, OK, what is gay marriage for, It sure are not for Re-production, I know some gay people, & every one of them has a sissy attiude, & their actions is that of a sissy, while the lesbians are trying to act more like a man, therefore it is all wrong. I am made a man & I act like a man, I don't act like a sissy.

Nothing. Marriage was around before the bible. People blame gay acts for the fall of Rome, the fall of Rome was because of christianity.

well, Not all these gay marriages work. they end up lying, cheating on each other and some even end up emotionally up set. I know of some that this has happened to.
I dont know the actual stats, but suspect they are fairly high on loving and leaving. wrod to the wise be sure you want this life before entering it.
