Because Northern Ireland is part of the UK or should I say (was invaded, terrorised and colonised by the UK) and southern Ireland is its own independent republic with nothing to do with the UK(even the weather programmes)

Its all due to the Irish Question, and the partition of Ireland. Northern Ireland is part of the UK, whereas the Republic of Ireland isn't... The two were seperated after a series of problems involving religion and politics.
