A company called Traditional Medicinals makes a great herbal tea specifically for sore and/or scratchy throats. It's called Throat Coat. Most supermarkets carry it, but it's usually in the natural food section, not with the regular teas. It has a naturally sweet taste, so you most likely won't have to add any sweeteners to it, but if you would like it a little sweeter, honey would be your best option.
If you can't find this, then any tea is fine as long as you add honey. Honey has natural antioxidants and it also helps to coat your throat to help protect it.

Fluids are very important when fighting a cold or the flu so there is your first plus, warm fluids soothe a sore throat so there is number 2 and mint or spearmint teas are great for stuffy nose and/or sore throat. Thats 3! You can't lose. I always brew a cup of chamomile tea when I can't sleep too. Hope you feel better!

Ant type of tea will work- it is the heat that soothes the sore throat. Make the tea and add lots of lemon for vitamin C- no milk or cream, and drink while VERY hot. But a perfect cure is one my Mother made all of us: Boil 4 cups chicken broth ( homemade is best) with 1/2 chopped onion, 1 crushed garlic clove, 1/2 jalapeno pepper, (These are the main ingredients- if you have celery, parsley, peppercorns, ham- add whatever you would normally to a broth) and cook for 20 minutes. Strain. Pour broth in a cup and squeeze 1/2 lemon in broth- serve and make them drink it REALLY hot. Works every time!

Ginger Tea!
Peel the skin from a small ginger root. Slice the root into thin coins and place the pieces into a small pot of water. Boil the pieces to make tea. The tea should turn a yellowish (straw) or tan color. Add three tablespoons of your favorite honey to sweeten the tea. Sip the hot tea slowly. The tea gives a sharp tingle to the throat after swallowing it. After you sip it, gently clear your throat. This tea also works for trying to get your voice back after a cold.
