The good friend is out of the picture, but dont want to hurt his feelings even though he is moved away, and dont want to possibly loose the friendship with the woman by asking her out. Aghhh!

Go for it!! Talk to her about the importance of maintaining the friendship and the risk you're taking by asking her out on a date. As for the friend she use to date, what's his current status? If he has moved on with other relationships, and isn't 'pinning' away for her, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Ask the woman what the status of the former relationship is...and go from there. If you really like her, it may be a risk worth taking. Be good to her though!

If you have to ask if you should then you know you shouldn't.

Is Denise Richards raked over in the press for dating her best friends ex? Yes. There are just some places you don't go.

Are you still good friends w/ the guy? how long were they together? How long have they been broken up? All of these are important questions. If you're not really good friends w/ him anymore, go for it. If you are, ask him. If they were together for a long time and serious, that's iffy. If they broke up a long time ago, pffsshhhh, go for it. But I would ask your guy friend first.

Call the friend and tell them you are going to ask her out. Just give them a heads up so at least you told them before you actually did it and they can't say you hid it.

Yeah, I would just say "Hey do you know so-n-so?" and have the conversation go from there. No harm in asking, especially if he is out of the picture.

If it's really stressing you out, contact him and ask him his opinion. Then at least you won't feel the guilt every time you see her.
