That is a line from Revalation, written by St John. it was meant to prevent people fiddling with the words of what he had written. Obviously he lived in a time and a culture where changing sacred texts for political ends was common place, hence his need to include that particular caveat. It makes me question the authenticity of other segments of the bible.such as the pauline letters, with specific reference to his masoganistic verses. why should women remain silent and have thier heads covered in church. There is evidence to suggest that the verses in question were later aditions.

I am not sure about the location of the passage about the fire in the bible but the one i know of is:

Matthew 5:18
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Bible is from the greek word Biblos that means book. The "Bible" is an official collection of books.

The protestants removed six of them from the catholic bible (the apocrapha).

At the council of nicea in 327, there were about 400 versions of the gospels, out of whiich 4 were choses as the official ones.

There is also the question of translation accuracy and the first english version was the coverdale one in the sixteenth century. This was replaced by others such as the King James edition, the new international version etc, presumably to increase the authenticity.

Some christians (eg Jehova witnesses) have even claimed that there are 50,000 errors in the bible.

The Quran has remained unchanged for fourteen centuries. Why not listen to the debate in the link and decide for yourself.

To add to or take away from the Bible is not to leave out books that are duplicated in others or that cannot be proved who the author was. To add to or take away means the doctrine of the Bible. For instance, you cannot say you can be saved by keeping the 10 Commandments today because we do not have the 10 Commandments in the New Testament Law. We are also told to rightly divide the Word. Contrary to the thoughts of many, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are a part of the Old Testament. The NEW LAW was first preached in Acts 2. We need to study.

Man wrote the Bible in the first place. So that doesn't make sense. If God can talk to all of these malnourished cave dwellers of the early centuries, why then is it absurd to think God's not speaking to Bush or Blair.Because it doesn't fit into your neat little farsical Christian nonsense.Tell the YATeam that people are changing the Bible. They'll violate them and fine them at least 10 points.
Man chose to fabricate all of that nonsense anyway.None of it ever happened and SCIENCE has proved a great deal of that already. They conceal FACTS like that in reference books not fairy tale books.
Einstein believed that God was simply nature and the powers that govern physics, the soul was simply energy and therefore could not be destroyed.Einstein has done more to prove his theories and writings then have any religious texts.I'm going with the genius scientist on this one.

You have the wrong interpretation of the Bible, Everything that God wanted to be known up till the end time, was written for us, But there is Prophacies in the Bible, that is not even written yet as of what they mean, Did not God tell Daniel & John the Revelator to seal up those things that the 7 thunders said & write them not, But at the end time God will have a people down here on earth that will kNOW when & what those 7 thunders will say & do.

God said to not add or take away or God shall add the plagues to him or take away his name out of book of life... That is the book of Revelation. Though God does say similar elsewhere in the bible. That those who alter His Words will be found out a liar. Also God said false prophets get thrown into the lake of fire.

The apochryphal books are antichrist. Ask the Spirit of Truth to reveal the truth about false doctrines. God is always true. Also it was prophets of God filled with the Holy Spirit who knew what books were of God. The Bible is found tried & true.

If you read false doctrines they will contradict the Grace message of the bible. Also they belittle women... I tried to read some of them, book of apochraphal writings, after purchasing it myself. I got confused and they belittled women... The Holy Spirit directed me to toss book out rather than return it and get my money back. You can do the same. You will see what I mean when you read them. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to discern this. It just takes the Holy Spirit guidance.

Some of those books are in the Catholic Bible.
God said to the effect that to remove from His words would get you removed from the book of life and to add to the words would have plagues added to you.

The real question is if these books aren't supposed to be in the Bible and they were put in, what would happen? I think generally the criteria used for inclusion of books was if Jesus or an apostle quoted from them.

no wonder the christians such a confused lot. every one seems to be obsessed with the word of god, bible and god. in the process they forget to live. muslims claim they have the authentic book. even church seems to be playing politics of hide n seek with truth & lies.

muslims are the ones who are not confused, because they got the last verison. after that they refused to print the next version. incidentally they have set fire to the printing press where it was printed last time.

word of god according to Quraan is like this :
go, kill all kafirs - muslims still dont know what a kafir means. all that they know is to kill.
i thin they can rape the women of kafirs. allah had sanctioned it as a gift to the muslims.
if a man does not accept quraan or allah or islam he can be killed.

if they do the above acts they are rewarded their place in heaven. incase he dies, he comes a martyr and will be rewarded with more virgins than others. si ther god running a brothel up there in heaven.

yet they call their religion Islam, meaning peace. ideal would have been piece. whole islamic world is in turmoil, since the birth of islam. strange predicament. they name their religion islam (peace) and no peace amongst themselves.

God was supposedly to had said alot of things but they don't seem to be true so why would this be true. If there is really a god why is there so much war, poverty, killings, etc. So what happens if someone decides to write a book about all the wrongs and untrue statements of the bible.

The verse you are referring to comes from Revelations and cites " the prophecies in this book" not "this Bible." Theoretically if another book was divinely inspired it could be added to the Bible. But I don't think Christians have been able to as a body of Christ determine a divinely inspired book since the Reformation. The "lost" books of the bible were never lost. The Church was always well aware of them. They chose not to put them in the Bible because they couldn't verify the validity of what they said.
