I have heard that there is a waiting list for the Yaris? Does anyone know if this is true?

Probably depends on what part of the country you are in.

It could also be a problem of getting one equipped the way you like it. Contrary to popular belief, dealers don't "order" cars from Toyota. They request certain packages and colors, but Toyota is going to build whatever Toyota is going to build. And witht the Yaris, the pw/pl combo, along with the available ABS are next to impossible to find.

Have you considered a Scion xA? It's not the boxy car, it's only a few hundred more than the Yaris, it has the exact same motor as the Yaris, and it comes standard with pw/pl and ABS. It's a MUCH better value.

Instead of worrying about the Yaris just get an Echo! The Echo gets the same gas mileage and has 2 more horsepower! I say go for Echo instead of Yaris! Good Luck!

NO, save yourself the pain of the new "penalty box" and git a Fit or Versa. They have the same fuel economy, yet have more space and power. Honda is also on top of the reliability chart, beating everything by a longshot, Toyota also had the most recalls last year. If you are willing to spend a little more money the Dodge Caliber, Chevy HHR, Chrysler PT Cruiser or Pontiac Vibe are way more fun. Rated #1, and bigger in every way (yet priced about the same) is the Chevy Cobalt. Read the reviews from Cars.com, edmunds.com, and they will lead you to the Cobalt.
PS. The Pontiac Vibe is a rebadged Toyota Matrix if that comforts you.

Not in my area which is Upstate NY. I know someone who just bought one and could not dicker at all on the price and he ended up paying sticker price but got the car with no wait. And also FYI he LOVES this car and highly recommends it to everyone. If you are thinking about getting one I don't think you can go wrong with a Toyota.
