When I was at summer camp a few years ago, there were two black girls who did each other's hair one night. Then, they gathered up the hair that had fallen to the floor, and instead of throwing it away, said they had to keep it......but when I asked why, they got all quiet about it. Is there some custom that says you have bad luck if you throw away your hair? I don't mean to offend anyone....just wondering.......

Well it's not a custom that all black people follow, but if I am correct, like here in the Virgin Islands, I know of some people that don't let their hair go anywhere if it's not straight to a dumpster. Reason being that there are two sayings. One is that if a bird takes your fallen hair to build a nest, you will go crazy, and another saying is that people can take your hair to do voodoo, obea and stuff like that. I guess it depends on your location. I'm only speaking for where I come from.

ok, i will coach you on something. merely considering you preface a stupid, stereotypical (i put in "racist" in the beginning up yet i'm attempting to be spectacular), generalization with the assertion "A basic question, no longer meant to offend . . i'm no longer generalizing to an entire team." does no longer propose that your question is unquestionably "basic" "inn-offensive" and would not stereotype. considering you truly did generalize to an entire team. I propose you attempt catching a clue. according to hazard in case you honestly linked with (that's have close friendships with) somewhat some black women folk you may comprehend that they (i'm no longer a black woman) are available all shape, sizes, personalities, and attitudes. in case you do away with the component of generalization on your question, the question turns into meaningless. could you relatively ask: Why perform a little black women folk have attitudes?" No that should be a query much greater stupid than the only you asked. i'm sorry you had a foul adventure. in case you have been extremely so in touch approximately why that woman had an "attitude" possibly you ought to have asked her.

When I was younger I remember my grandmother telling me something to the fact that its not good to leave hair anywhere because there are people who will do things with it, like voodoo I guess. Even though I really don't believe it anymore I still do it. I never thought about it until now, that's funny.

No, but I know in certain cultures, people are afraid of vodoo and stuff like that. In the state of New Orleans that stuff is very common. Also in countries like Haiti and some African countries that sort of superstition exist.
