My boyfriend and I talk a lot about marriage. The engagement ring was hideous but I am less concerned about that and more concerned with what it means to have my father propose to me. My father's opinion has always meant so much to me...was this a sign saying that he is okay with me getting married to this man?

It's fairly normal. Your father represents security to you and leaving him to become a wife is like leaving your childhood to become an adult in many ways. I think the dream represents more about you not being ready for such a move at this time. After all... the ring was hideous, right?
Of course it could be that because your father was representing your boyfriend here... that you think your boyfriend is as comfortable of a mate for you as family... who knows... explore your feelings about this while awake and you'll have your answer :)

Don't read into dreams. They could mean a lot of things or nothing. I would suggest you tell him how you feel about marrying him and then let him know that you would like to get a ring you pick out. Tell him the truth now before you start hiding truths all your life together. He is a guy so most likely you won't hurt his feelings about this.

sure, seems like it from the dream. You must have your doubts if your asking the general public about it. If your already upset about the engagement ring not being good enough for you perhaps you two should stay single. Sounds like you have the mind set that you can do better, why don't you spare the guy some agony and go find Mr. Better.

It is said a female will go after a male similar to her father. So that is what the dream meant in my opinion. You see your father in your boyfriend.
It was possibly a sign that your dad approves.

When ready to settle down and find a husband, it is quite common for a lady to select a fellow that is either closest to or farthest from their perception of their own father. Either the father-figure role was a good one or not.
This isn't a concious effort. It is simply an unconcious mechanism to select a male that best "fits" for you.
The fact that your boyfriend was portrayed as your father in your dream shows that you are comforted by him.....just like your father. Assuming of course you perceive your father as such.

It could mean loads of things. There maybe approval from your father figure, their maybe similarities in your boyfriend to your father. Most females have two important males in their lives their father and their partner, it is no wonder this happened in your dream.

Yeh it could be. alot of woman do actually go for men who are very much like their fathers i dont know why but they do. so maybe thats why your boyfriend looked like a young version of your dad maybe you see alot of your dad in your boyfriend. but i think its a definite sign you and your boyfriend should get married. give him lots of hints to propose.
