God does not care at all about what "church" you attend. Churches are only human institutions and they are full of very fallible (and sometimes very saintly) people. Don't hate or blame the church. Just see all denominations for what they are: the projections of a group of human beings who need safety and comfort in numbers. Be at peace. Love God. Practice justice. You will find you home in time among gentle people who share your faith and vision.

If you have a mind to follow bad examples from human debris, don't go, but if you can ignore the petty people that profess rightousness and try to display it in a group or church setting, then go and learn from the 'word' because they will at the very least not try to ad-lib the written word. I myself, can tolerate them up to a point as I find that they will try to make you become so involved in their doings that you have little time to do for you and yours. They will also make you to feel guilt about almost every desire you have, whether it is work or play and recreational. No one or church has all the answers, and when they suggest that you will be damned if you don't go with their doctrine, they are telling the Lord almighty what to do!

You can believe in God and not go to church. God wants us to go to church so we can have fellowship with fellow believers. In this fellowship, we can become "mutually encouraged" like Paul wishes to be in Romans 1, and we can also grow in our faith.
BTW, priests are humans, too. they are liable to sin just as much as the rest of us are. however, yes, they are held to a higher standard because they are supposed to lead exemplary lives.
If you don't like the Catholic church, go somewhere else. Many things the Catholic church practices are -not- based upon the Bible; this is because humans are fallible and therefore, as sinful creatures, we corrupt something the holy God instituted. other churches are more Bible-based and will follow His word. reformations in church denominations will never end because humans are sinful and stuff from the world will enter in. it's just a part of life; we have to be on guard for dangerous corruption!
Edit: a thing about faith -- even if you believe that God exists, that's not gonna cut it. James 2:19 says "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder." Faith is more than just believing He exists. It's about allowing Him to take a hold of your life after you have confessed to Him that you have sinned against Him. Your faith is shown by what you do.

i think it's ok not to go to church. as long as you have god in your heart. but, what kind of saddens me is that you are putting all priest in the same category. for example: you state that all you've seen is priests doing things that are not righteous. well, it's kind of like saying that just because that you were robbed by a black person and now you can't trust any black person. do you understand what i'm stating? i'm not being racist or mean, i'm just trying to get my point across that just because you've seen all these bad things from priests does not mean that there is not any good ones out there. good luck in your quest, and keep you faith. if you don't want to go to church you don't have to.

This is your life and you have to make the right decisions for yourself. God isnt only in a church he is every where. God doesn't want you to be a hypocrite or pretend to worship him. If you believe that the church is corrupt and that you can not in all justification attend, than God will understand. Lose your religion, but not your faith. God cares about you, and He will find you wherever you are.

The most amazing thing about human beings is that no matter here we come from what backgrounds we have come from we all know right from wrong, what is good and what is bad. You do not need to go to church and listen to someone preach to you all of that. you know whats right you can feel it in your gut. you don't need to belong to a church or religion to follow God to live by his rules etc. Just carry on being the best person you can be.
all the best xx

You don't have to go to church to show your faith to the big man. You just have to have faith that he exists. Your not going to go to hell just because you don't believe in your priest or pastor or your church. You need to look at the big picture. God is not going to look down on you just because you do not go to church every sunday. What matters is that after all that exposure you experienced, you still have faith in him. But you also have to remember, not all priests are like that.

If you're catholic? No. wouldnt be acceptable. --nor would it be in most other protestant sects either besides the quakers.
I guess it all depends on your personal sentiments and beliefs and your own personal relationship with god. But going to church is not a bad idea since you can learn lots of things that you wouldn't be able to on your own, from people who've studied the subject a hell of a lot longer than you probably have. Maybe a change in which church you go to might be a consideration?

Earth can be your church, and how you live your life can keep you close to your belief in God. The God you feel is helping you see these differences in right and wrong, you don't need a church to walk into and hear his teachings, they are already inside you.
