Soy contains phyto-estrogens and can cause an hormonal imbalance in cats. Fermented soy is OK. The hormonal imbalance raises the T-4 or thyroid secretion and can lead to hyperthryroidism in cats.
Soy contain trypsin inhibitors which interfere with protein digestion. Soy contains phytic acid which inhibits mineral absorption. In general soy contains toxic substances causing chronic poisoning (liver damage) and endocrine disruption.
Purina Natural has soybean as the third ingredient in its cat food.
So I would limit soy milk consumption to a few laps occasionally from your cereal bowl.

My 2 dogs have soy milk and a spoonful of yoghurt in their bowls every morning afterI have finished my breakfast, they have been having it for more than 12 months and have never had any bad after effects from it. I'm sure the cat would be the same, after all is is a vegetable product.

In all honesty a cat/dog/etc doesn't NEED milk at all, once it's stopped nursing.
Certainly in small doses it might be ok, but also can cause loose stool etc. I'm well aware that pet stores and manufacturers make and sell pet milk varieties even beyond the artificial nursing stuff, but that's primarily for profit.

http://www.crvetcenter.com/foodallergy.htm says"Clinical tests of IgE allergies in 313 cats and dogs at CRVC revealed the top food allergens to be: corn, wheat, soy, yeast, potato and beet."
soy and milk in general is not good for people or pets. soy milk also tends to contain lost of sugar and since you cerial most likley had lots too, not a really wise choice for your pet
if you really want to give milk. give skim lactose free milk. lactose is the reason cats have problems drinking milk.
but it is always wise to talk to your vet if you feel unsure

Soy milk is fine for cats. If you go to a pet store to buy the kitty milk and read the ingredients, you'll see that it just happens to be soy milk.
