Hi, I've got some Video 8 tapes recorded on my old camcorder (Now broken). I'm going to buy a second hand camcorder to copy them to DVD on my DVD recorder. Will a Hi8 camcorder play the tapes ok?

Yes; Hi-8 camcorders and for that matter most Digital 8 camcorders will play older standard 8 tapes. In fact most Digital 8 machines will output analogue tapes in digital form and thus do the A/D conversion for you; and do it well!

What many people ask is if they can 'somehow' be played in a VHS machine with some sort of adaptor... and the answer is a resounding no!

Yes a Hi8 camcorder will play standard 8 tapes, you may have to select by a switch or it may be automatic.

Hi m8
Should be ok , If I remember correctly the hi 8 is a far better tape to use for quality.

Are you in UK? I have old Sony parts for sale, car and home chargers, batteries, cannot remember the rest, I am disabled.

If interested give me a mail on this site.
