Me and my Fiance were looking into getting married abroad. I dont think you need any sort of licence to get married over there - you can do it as if you were in this country but I think you have to get the marriage certificate registered in your country when you get back. If you contact a travel agent, there are many that organise the whole wedding package for you, the wedding, reception, accomodation everything which would take the stress off of you and your partner!

Why not get legally married in Ireland then have a second ceremony or blessing in Spain? Or do it the other way around through a travel agent? The Humanist Society perform ceremonies that are not legally binding, but can be tailored to your requirements, but you would have to do the legal part in a church or registry office first. Ireland is beautiful, all that lovely fresh green countryside around you, what more could you want?

ok heres what you need to do. if he wants to get married in ireland and you want to get married in spain, then you need to inform him of what you want. explain your reasons to him. i find this helps a lot. i kinda know, i have been there. once you do that, you can both kinda work through your plans. if he goes for your idea, then you should contact a travel agency, they will be able to tell you whether or not you need anything special to get married in another country. or you can look it up on the internet. i did both and found some very interesting information. of course i did it the hard way and used yahoo search. but it did help. good luck but before you really do anything i would talk to him about your feelings and plans. then you would know how he feels and he would know how you feel.

hi
congratulations !
I'm getting married in Italy next year if you book through a agent they will sort everything for you and let you know what info you need to take with you .Abroad is best and its a lot cheaper!I'm away for 2 weeks and have loads of extras and its only costing £2500 plus if you have a reception back home you get to wear your wedding dress twice so adv your partner its best because you get the most out of your dress lol

First you say you want to get married in Ireland, and then you say you want to get married in Spain..... do you mean HE wants Ireland and you want Spain??? Don't think you need a special licence.

No you dont need a special licence. Most hotels will sort out all the paperwork anyway before you go and tell you what documents to bring.

first of all congratulations on your engagement
just talk to your fiance about how you feel & maybe see if you can agree on something.
i've been with my fiance for 14months too & were getting married in turkey(on the beach) sometime next year.
your a woman so use your powers of persuasion.

Check out http://www.sunway.ie/weddings/search.asp?Season=S&Resort=AGP
It's for the Costa Del Sol but it'll give you an idea of what is required.
And congratulations on the good news!
