What is the significance of the apearance of 'NEW MOON" in celebration of EID?

Because Islamic calender is lunar calender and thats the reason we wait for new moon birth.

The Islamic month starts with the birth of a new moon (crescent). So the end of Ramadan and the begining of the Eid is marked by a crescent (new moon = new month).
