While teenagers may sometimes be wasteful in their attitudes towards actually putting garbage in garbage cans (look at the field of any junior high school and you'll see what I mean), and often do not exactly drive in the most fuel-efficient manner possible at all times, the environmental impact of teens as a whole I would suspect is much, much lower than that of adults.

As mentioned above, adults are the ones who are working in the most highly polluting, environmentally damaging industries. Usually, they are the ones buying the environmentally unsound products (even if the teens are the ones who consume them). Adults drive a lot more cars than teens do, and operate pretty much all of the heavy equipment, big trucks and other vehicles that are less than efficient.

Also, an individual is only a teen for six, seven years (depending on how you define 'teen'), while most people are adults for 50 to 60 years. That's a lot more time to have an impact, even if their individual consumption was lower. So an environmentally conscious adult, over the course of his lifetime, can still have a greater impact on the environment than a wasteful teen, simply because they are around for so long.
