About 8-10 years ago I started to buy LG products and I was always recommending there products to people as they were pretty decent and good value for money; when somebody said to me - "I'm not buying anything from them - Lucky/Goldstar, aye right"
It was my I.T. manager who said this and according to him they were an amalgamation of those two companies - lucky and goldstar, two electronics companies who were around in the early ninetiies. Neither of them were very reputable.
This may be a load of old cobblers but at least its a sensible answer and I've always been willing to believe it.
