yes I'm left handed and am unable to use a normal pair of right handed scissors and yes there is a difference, the school said they could not afford to buy a pair of left handed ones so it meant that whenever we did arts and crafts at primary school my teacher had to do all the cutting for me.
www.anythingleft-handed.com did a survey recently which might help.
good luck

Yes i was as i was a Chubby girl and it was terrible. I use to let on to my mum i was sick so i didn't have to go to school. It made me eat a lot more because i got so depressed and i would hide all the sweet papers under my bed. Some kids can be cruel in school, but then again they were kids,,, it stuck in my mind for ever and that's were the kids that did this to me don't realise the effect it had on me. I still think about it and i am 42 now

I was discriminated against by my peers because I came from a poor family. I recall having to wear a pair of my grandmother's shoes when my own were literally falling apart. This caused great amusement to some of my peers who made a point of telling others. I often used to be picked on by peers that simply wanted to fight me, presumably to show that kids that have nice things are better than 'scruffs'.

When I was at secondary school several years ago, the girls ONLY had people come talk to them on women in industry.
Really sexist, I mean boys if anything need equal support, considering how many unemployed males 16-25 go into criminality compared to women.

Most people get bullied at school - not just cos they're disabled, but even cos they're a bit special or have upset someone outside school or they have/not got the latest fashion accessory. Kids these days are finding any excuse to pick on those weaker than themselves - & these days, it involves guns, knives or other tools to bolster their ego & put their point across. I was bullied, too - but it was only general name-calling - not like it is now. (It's bad enough mixing with them on their bus home; imagine what a whole day would be like with them!!!).

my sonwho is now 8,was constantly being forced to use his right hand to write etc in school at 5 yrs of age, as the rest of class were right handed and therefore it was easier to teach them all the same way, needless to say this didn' twash with me, he knbow uses only his left hand!
