You can get engaged but it won't have the same meaning as you're not free to marry. You need to ask yourself some questions first.

How long will it take for the divorce to go through

Is it a straight forward divorce or could it go on for a few years.

Will your separated husband give you a divorce

Will your separated husband use it against you in court that you are already engaged and incite your future husband as the reason for the divorce.

An engagement is only a PROMISE to marry. It is not a formal or legally binding committment. However, you cannot marry the person to whom you are engaged until you are both single otherwise it would be called bigamy. You can actually be engaged to several different people at once! lol It is not illegal.

I think that waiting until you are no longer married will show that you take marriage seriously. To get engaged to one person when you are still married to another, to me, makes a mockery of the whole thing.

Please wait until you are not married any more and then become engaged to the next one.

Good Luck with this one!

While your marriage is on effect you can't commit a new engagement but you have to wait for annulement of the first. What I can advise is establish mutual friendship with a new prospect friend including sexual relationship so long you are mutually understand and face the tying the knot in the future between you and him.
Stay away from your first marriage and build better relatioship with your prospect friend.

You can do whatever you want -- short of getting married -- if you want to.
But anything worth having is worth waiting for and I'd personally put off an official engagement until the ink is dry on the final decree of your divorce. It's classier, for a start.

yes, an engagement isnt on a piece of paper. Just dont get married again until your divorce has gone through.

You can get engaged to someone else but need to let them know that you don't have a divorce yet! It would be in better taste to wait until after the divorce!

Engaged, yes, married, no obviously. You have to be completely divorced to be married again, but as there are no legal restrictions on getting engaged, you can go ahead and do it. For propriety's sake, however, I hope that you haven't just broken up with your wife as this can be viewed as extremely callous.

YOU CAN BE ENGAGED TO ANY AMOUNT OF PEOPLE YOU WANT TO AT THE SAME TIME. HOWEVER YOU CANNOT BE MARRIED TO MORE THAN ONE PERSON AT A TIME. YOU SHOULD GET DIVORCED FIRST!! I WAS ENGAGED TO MY CURRENT PARTNER WHILST STILL MARRIED TO MY EX. I WAS ADVISED TO WAIT UNTIL MY DIVORCE HOWEVER THERE ARE SOMETIMES VERY STUBBORN EX'S OUT THERE! DO WHAT YOU FEELS BEST FOR YOU SO LONG AS IT MAKES YOU HAPPY. GOOD LUCK WHATEVER YOU DECIDE!!

you can do anything you want to do. but it will cause you problems when you go to get your divorce finalized.. and why would you even consider being engaged to someone when you haven't even gotten your divorce. after all you say you are just seperated.. you can't make one marriage work but your ready to jump into another one . give it time to get to know this guy.. he may be worse than the one you are leaving..
you don't know.. you haven't taken the time to find out..
