I usually drink a regular soda (not diet) at lunch time and afterwards I sometimes feel lightheaded, and get this feeling in my head like my brain is being squeezed. Anyone know why this is or what it could be?

It might be that what kind of soda you are drinking has a lot of caffeine, and you are sensitive to it, or the fact of being regular soda, and the sugar content is the problem. Soda has a lot of both substances, and those two things are all I can think of that might be your problem. That's a good question for your doc.

In soda, the caffeine and the high sodium and sugar mixture can tamper with your hormones, causing some people to get headaches, nausea, heartburn, or gas.

I would say it is the caffeine. My friend had a similiar problem and it only happened with pop that included caffeine. She had to start drinking caffeine free ones.

My mom is the same way.

Your brain could be feeling the effects of dehydration due to the caffeine in the soda, thus the squeezing feeling.

It could be the combinations of sugar and caffeine. I have a friend that actually could give herself migraines with pop and candy!

It could be from the sugar, but it's the caffine that has a difinant effect ,diet or not.

Does the drink have caffeine in it? You may be reacting to that.
