friend has been praying like mad for a wife. Now at 38, he found one. I was delighted for him and then he said to me, "Ah, hasn't the Lord brought anyone for you?" in a patronising manner. I just wish I could have had a quick reply. I don't know why he had to say that.

go you really believe some old boy with a beard and looking like Santa Clause while sitting on a cloud is listening to all this crap? Why not considers a religion that regards the benefits that relate to the whole planet, rather than the section benefit of our particular bunch of apes? Guess this is the Pagan coming out in me, but I do get sick of all the monotheistic nonsense. There is another position.

Don't judge him for just this incident. Is he usually patronising? If yes, have a heart-to-heart talk with him before you take any decision. Give him another chance and see how things go. In the meantime, pray that Allah guides you to the right decision.

My best wishes for you.

There are three states in life that some of us believe God calls one to. The Religious Life: Nun, sister, brother, priest. The Single Life: Not married but not consecrated, and Married life. Some of us are called to live more than one of these in our lifetime. However you are called is how your life will go. Be at peace with your life and live it. Do not let bitterness or despair robe your joy.
Tell him you live the life God sends and you are content with that. If he wishes to push he can ask God why.

What an odd bloke, does he think the power of prayer is just to satisfy his own needs and desires. You should have said with the state the world is in you have no time to pray for your self as your thoughts are with the down trodden and oppressed. (I would love to see the sanctimonious gits face)

What sort of friend is that? I;m not religious but surely the Lord wouldn't be too happy he has suddenly turned into a smug git? Tell him "no and so what, is that all there is in life"? Don't let it bother you - you can't rely on someone else to make you happy...

Maybe he had a little pride. Keep waiting, God has a perfect one for you. I guess time will tell if your friend found God's best or not. You probably did well in not saying anything to him other than you were happy for him.

Tell him that some people seek and find and don't expect God to just give them what they want when they pray. Sorry he hurt your feelings. Let's both pray that his new wife can tolerate his insensitvity "as both as they both shall live"
