A Visa is a document giving you permission to enter and stay in a foreign country for a given period of time. Some allow you to live there, some allow you to work, it just depends on the term of it. Some countries require you to have it or else you would be considered an illegal alien, you might not even be allowed to leave the airport if you don't have one.

But many nations do not require such visas if there are special agreements. For example Residents of the EU do not need visas to travel or even work in other countries in the Eurozone.

The best reference I can give you is the Wikipedia entry, it should also have directions on obtaining one.

If you travel abroad, you will need a visa for most countries. It's like a permit to enter the country. Sometimes, getting the permit (visa) depends on what country are you from. But usually it is just a lot of ID paperwork and formalities, plus an administrative fee.

If you want a visa, the best thing is to contact the Embassy of the country that you want to visit (you can find at google). They will give you forms and information on the different types of visa.

a foreign visa is used when you go to other country but it depends on what country and your nationality. Some country allowed a foreign visitors for no visa for a short period of time. Visa has different categories for visitors, long staying, permanent residence, working. It depends on what or how long you will stay to other country. You can apply it to the immigration or corresponding embassy of the country where you want to go.

Get your passport first, then go to an embassy of the country you want to travel, fill out the necessary forms, pay for the visa fees if necessary, and get a visa endorsement from the embassy consular.

Well I'm American, so my mother's tongue is obviously English. Aside from that though, I speak Spanish everyday fluently and I can have a conversation in Mandarin Chinese. I think it's pretty cool I can speak these languages, because a lot of people say I have a gift for it. That's really cool you know how to read Arabic and speak Urdu, keep at it. Especially since I live in LA, Spanish is unbelievably useful. I need to improve my Chinese though, but good question thanks for posting it. I love speaking different languages.
