ok read my post and you shall determine yourself if its fine.
plaque is made up of saliva, bacteria and food particles in on your teeth. you brush your teeth now, plaque will be form TWENTY seconds after you brush. there is NO way that you can prevent plaque forming.
so you will think, so why do we brush?
reason for brushing: plaque CONTROL.
when plaque is left on your teeth for 30-48 hours, it will harden and form calculus or what we call, tar tar. when this happens, it cannot be brush off and you will have to visit a dentist to take it out by doing scaling.
thus, reason for us to brush is to remove the plaque there so as to prevent tar tar formation.
if you only brush your teeth once every 24 hours, are you sure that your method of brushing is perfect that every aspect and every side of your teeth are brushed and no plaque is left there?
so, dentist recommand us to brush and floss after every meal for a reason.
brushing wont take you more then 5 minutes. brush before you sleep is especially importaant because at night, your saliva flow rate is much slower and plaque will form more at night then in the day.
ok to answer your question, it is theoretically fine, but i wouldnt recommand it.

Over time, if you only brush once within 24 hours, plaque will build up and cause major problems such as gingivitis. Dentists suggest brushing and flossing after every meal, but most people don't carry a toothbrush around with them. You should brush, floss and rinse at least twice a day - once in the morning and once before you go to bed. Brushing before you go to bed is very important because you don't want that food and sugar to settle in you teeth and gums. It's not healthy.

In theory and if you do a perfect job... Good luck with that.

I burhs more than once a day, but I admit that my morning brushing is the "official" time where I try to do that "excellent" job for disease prevention. The other times are just to get the food out of my mouth.

Personally if you live alone you only need to brush once a day before leaving the house. If you sleep with someone please brush your teeth before going to bed. Its not only for your health of your teeth but everyone else's benefit.

perhaps, but I wouldn't want to be your friend, cuz your breath would stink.
But if you truly are going to only brush once per day, make sure you floss first, use a flouride toothpaste, brush for at least 90 seconds, and have your one brushing right before bed, to kill as many of the bacteria as possible before you sleep all night (no tlaking, drinking, or eating means that as we sleep, bacteria can multiply much better than when we are awake and disturbing them)

I do! I have a 10 year old and a 6 year old...it makes me crazy that they don't just do it. (I have a 17 year old, too, but she will brush her teeth..haha) Favorite candy bar is a chunky bar.

I think it takes 24 hours for the filth to turn into plaque! But, remember, you still need to floss!
