It's probably a swollen lymph node. In your neck it's your body's first defense mechanism against any number of ears, nose, throat infections.
This is a warning sign that some infection is trying to take hold in your body and, as such, should be checked out by a doctor. The doc may take a throat swab to culture and check for strep, your tonsils could be acting up or you might be coming down with a cold. Better safe than sorry. See your usual doctor. It's not necessary to go to a hospital emergency facility (which is very expensive and full of really sick and/or distressed people).
It's probably not serious, and especially not if you catch it (and treat it) early!
Don't be afraid. Be responsible! Take good care of yourself!

Relax until you talk to your Dr. Any kind of infection, including colds and flu, can cause you to get swollen lymph nodes. Do you have your appointment set up with your Dr.? If not then call or go to the ER so you can find out for sure. You might need treatment, and it's always best to find out for sure what is wrong rather than going off of what others are guessing about what the problem may be. Good Luck.

I have swollen lymph nodes right now, they suck I know. The lymph node's role is to trap infections before they get any further into your body, so if they're swollen it means you've caught a little bug and they're doing their job. The doctor will have a feel around your neck, probably listen to your heart and look in your ears, then likely give you a prescription for some anti-biotics or penicillin, easy done :)

A swollen lymph node is a sign of an infection somewhere close to that lymph area. It could be nothing major could be a minor infection in the chest.
To be safe just visit the doctor so you are sure.

Swollen lyphnodes can just be a sign of fighting off a minor infection or something more serious. Mine swells up every now and then, I go to the doctors and get blood work just in case and everything checks out fine, youll probably be the same way.

These things happen.Thats how doctors make their living. So get yourself checked out.Everybody eventually needs medical treatment, but most of them survive it.Its really no big deal.
The best thing about doctors is that they can write you out a note that gets you out of having to go to work for a while. But you usually get better after treatment,so make the most of any time off by cleaning up your computer files and updating everything.
I hate being sick or damaged, but the plus side is all those pretty young nurses that fuss over you in hospitals,or the visitors you get if you are laid up at home.
Just remember, whatever does not kill you makes you stronger.

It's probably all right, Normal. Don't take the advice of your friend though. Either way. Go to a doctor. Take a friend if you are that scared. If you can't, jsut bite your lip & go anyway. Time is very important in these instance. Trust me. Go now. Then be relieved either way. Good luck!!!

You might just have a virus of some sort. However, I would call your doctor today and tell them to get you in right away. It's better to check it out and it saves you from worrying when it might not be anything to worry about.
Good luck!
