One who thinks God tells him what he should do is immune to consultation and can never form any meaningful compromise or agreement with an Islamic people who feel just as strongly that God is on their side.

Yes, of course I realise that people who believe themselves to be the holders of Gods truth are no longer amenable to reason, whether they are Christians like Bush or any of the Muslim factions in Iraq. God politics is uncompromising.

No. We need someone who will keep his personal religion out of it all together. And not try to rally votes by trying to convince people he is "special". I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they turned him into a religious icon of some sort once he gets out of office.
Can't we get a Pagan in there? Or Agnostic? Atheist? I wouldn't even mind a Jew in there if he/she kept the religious aspect out of it. But for crying out loud, drop the religious BS. Everyone knows it's just for votes.

What kind of a stupid question is this? I've seen many of your questions and answers and they seem to get sillier and sillier.
Can an atheist president solve the Iraq situation?
If you must know, there are things set in motion by God that no man can change. This war is a stepping stone to the end times when the Antichrist has complete power.
If you think things are bad now, stick around for a while. The next 50 years are going to be very scary for you.

The problem in Iraq is Muslims killing Muslims. There is no solution to this problem, just let them kill each other.
Trying to portray G.W. Bush as a fundamentalist is complete misinformation. And whatever his beliefs are, the Sunni and Shias could care less. They just want America out so they can turn Iraq into an Islamic blood-bath.

If we ever got a US President that stupid, I don't think it could be done.
But, I assume you're talking about Bush... You don't truly believe that he buys into the Christian Fundie bit because he believes it, do you? Come on... It's all just a show on his part in order to get the Fundie voters in his corner at the poles.
Bush is a sharp guy... his family is politically razor sharp; they know which side of their bread has butter & jelly and they have it right side up to show all the Fundies and gather them all in like little ole house flies.
I think Bush can do it... are you willing to stick it out with him and his party or are you ready to dump him for a liberal who might pull us out of the Middle East before all the dust is settled. That would be a lousy way to repay the soldiers who gave their lives for the betterment of our country and for the freedom of the Iraqi people.

Division of the state of Iraq would be a decidedly wrong thing to do... It would be an establishment of religiously run states that would likely never keep peace until their foe is erased from the map. That would be destabilizing to the region.
The creation of a free democratic state where all religious sects are protected equally under the law is the only way to go. Unfortunately, just like it is here, freedom of religion guarantees a place for idiot ideologies to exist, but hopefully the religious sects will learn in time that religion has no useful place in a modern society and hopefully they will become bored of it or wise up.
Democratic government and equality under the law is the best answer to keeping peace between warring religions. Think about it...

Gee wiz... that was certainly helpful. I wish I'd thought of it.!
Sure thing.! Let's just turn it over to God to take care of - Like God has taken care of everything else. Duh.! Where was God when the Tsunami struck... and didn't he step right in when Hitler was killing innocent people by the millions... and he sure managed to put a halt to Stalin's murderous ways, didn't he?

I think the problem isn't that he is a "Fundamentalist" is the problem. The problem is he (and his advisers) have no common sense. What should have been done is that Iraq should have been partitioned into 3 states- one shiite state, one sunni state, and one kurd state.
The nature of Islam is such that a Sunni can not be friends with Shiites and vice versa. Their religion is intertwined with every other aspect of their life. It's not like the west where an Evangelical can be friends with a Jew who can be friends with a Catholic who can be friends with an athiest. They don't separate these things in the Muslim world.

Very likely not. Good point.
I think it's quite clear that Step #1 in resolving our serious foreign affairs problem must be to change the leadership of the United States. I'm hoping that we see the beginning of that process two weeks from today.

Of course it can. It just takes one action to start off the end of any problem. Look how American's finally got our own country from England. We are not ruled by them anymore, because why? We took action, and England is a democracy now, not a Kingship, and why? Because their people took action, and finally said, Weve had enough! And it was solved.

Dont know about solving the problem, but if you want someone to provoke violence and hatred amongst the Muslims of the area, then a Christian fundamentalist US President is absolutely PERFECT!

No, it can't be easily solved. The Iraqis are looking at us and saying, "Look at the social problems they have. They are Babylon. If that's what having a democracy means, where people get to go crazy shoot up innocent children in schools, people do all kinds of depraved things (just watch TV), we want nothing of it." Let their Christian president take the board out of his own eye before he tries to take the splinter out of ours.

You have no concept of what true Christianity is. A truly Christian President (George Bush is not one) could resolve the situation.
