The cat obviously thinks your garden is part of it's territory, that's why it has a problem with your dog - you need to get your neighbour to keep the cat inside for 30 minutes, and let your dog run all around your garden and put his scent around the place - then when the cat comes back, it will hopefully get the message. Failing that, go with the bucket of water like somebody else said, so the cat will associate your garden with something it doesn't like.

I'm agreeing with previous answers - the cat has dominance over your dog. A handy hosepipe or powerful water pistol (remember the super soakers?) to drench the cat and a friends large dog for some regular visits. Also, does the cat have a regular access point into your garden? Could you set a water trap - like a hidden pool of water for it to land on?

Your neighbor is totally irresponsible. My dachshund was scratched across his eye by my friend's cat years ago. My dog was screaming, it was so painful. We rushed him to the vet right away. Her cat does not own your garden. Unless she wants to pay your vet bills, she should keep her animal on her own property. It's a shame that people let their cats out in the first place. I know they are an animal that likes to wander. Let's face it, my dogs would like to wander the neighborhood, too, as I'm sure their ancestors did. Unfortunately, their ancestors didn't have to deal with speeding cars and people who would use them for bait for dog fighting. I love cats. We see the results everyday where I work of cats left to wander.
Good luck with your problem. It's difficult to change someones mind when they think their cat should be allowed to roam freely and threaten other people's pets.

the dog may be little but still the dominate animal evetualy the dog will mess that cat up trust me that cat will stop. i have two small dogs and two old cats and the same thing happened to me you cant remove anyone when they live together. the cat will learn and the dog will not kill the cat . just think if your dog teaches this cat a lesson some big dog who can kill the cat on the spot will.let your little dog show her dogs are dominate. GOOD LUCK

there is not a lot you can do,you could ask for advice from the rspca but i think you have done all you can,you have approached the cats owner who sounds like they should not be an animal owner,,why not get a water gun and every time you see the cat come in,give it a good soaking, otherwise you might just have to let your dog let it know that the garden is his home..

What a rude cat! It is obviously standing its ground. If I were you I would call your dog away, chase the cat out with water and let your dog back out into the garden.
CAts can give dogs a nasty scratch so don't let your dog wind that grumpy cat up too much!

Cats r ferral there is no law in the world to stop cats doing that which they want???
Personally i do not like the 2 dogs of my so called neighbours.
But if this cat is as u say"and i belive u".
Put a bottle x 2-3,of water in your garden this "will" stop the cat comeing anywhere near, your garden.
Cats will taunt dogs(cats are sooooo ,bullies,(true) .
Ps: I think this cat ,is a male cat,:ie a tom.
Hope this helps.Be brave.
Dogs have owners, cats,"NEVER".(Cats r free game)
If it is,do not your self,go near it,it will be aggressive,by nature, hence the taunting of your dog.
I love cats,(personally)but if this cat is being a bully(which it is ,I think it is a tom cat.(BEWARE of a TOM) really.
Between u n me "kill it,first opportunity you get" .
Think Tiger, then look at the tom again?all caattt!!!
Small but "DEADLY"

get yourself a water pistol, or better still a supersoaker.... then drench the cat...... After all if like my old dog, yours loves being in the garden and chasing the water from the gun (sometimes dogs can be so stupid lol) then your neighbour has no come back, and since the water isn't hurting the cat nobosy can complain about it!

If you can get the cat, Give it to the SPCA or pound, Since the owner of the cat is not taking reasonable ownership for the cat attacking your dog..
