Iran has an elected govt. It is a democracy of sorts just as the US is a democracy of sorts. Before there are cries from the Americans about having the best democracy in the world think about your college system of voting, the gerrymandaring that takes place every time a new president is elected, the disenfranchising of many blacks, spanish and other ethnic minorities, vote rigging, media control, and the lack of choice between parties (there is no real difference between Democrat and Republican).

Why should Iran change its regime just because the west aren't happy with it? Why don't the West change their regimes because Iran aren't happy with them?

As a footnote, Iran is much larger than Iraq and the chances of an invasion of Iran being successful are extremely low, especially given the failings in Iraq which was a much weaker country militarily and ideologically.

Adhimijad WAS democratically elected leader of Iran, lol. Iran is a democracy (of sorts) as is Palestine, shame is Isreal allowed to illegal kidnap democratically elected officials.

So when we the West say to the Middle East we want to spread freedom and democracy they laugh at us. At the moment we supporting Pakistan which has a military dictatorship, but becuase hes our buddy in the global war on terrorism "hes ok" We also turn a blind eye to tyjikistan and other states with horrific human rights records beause they our War on Terror buddies.

You cant have one rule from Europeans and one rule for middle east/Asia.

Iran currently sponsors some of the groups such as the Badr Brigade, which US and British troops turn a blind eye to anyway. They act as militias, setting up road blocks in hand with the police.

The whole war in Iraq is BS. Also all Iran needs to do is put the price up or stop pumping and could cripple west.

Not sure if I understand the English of the question, however the region of Iraq where the Brits are operating is predominantly Shi'ite which is aligned religiously and politically to Iran.

A breakdown of government in this region would potentially see Iran occupy southern Iraq. to "protect their Shi'ite brothers" from Sunni persecution.

This would effectivly encourage the Kurds in the north to accede (and probably provoke the Turks to invade them), and therfore the entire collapse of Iraq. A country which is less than 100 years old and has no common history to bind it together.

This will not happen whilst the Brits are there, but may once they withdraw.
